That is a really nice mk3 saloon you have there.
£395 in an absolute bargain too if its in half as good condition as the pics suggest.
I can understand if your on a budget you don't want to blow £400 on the superb H&R Cup kit. You can still lower these without spending a fortune though, try and get hold of a GMax kit. I had one on my mk2, the shorter gas dampers were excellent but the springs were only 40mm drop IIRC? The ride was excellent, and it really tightened up the chassis and drove a lot better. Loosing a coil or 2 on the front would acheive a 60mm drop if required.
As a matter of course it's best to change the top mounts when you do the suspension though, they don't last very long.
Just a point of note, take the battery out and check the tray for rust. Clear any leaves and debrit out and rustproof it. Got to be one of the most important jobs in a pre '94 Polo!
