...so I might be calling on the combined help of the Area 52 massive to assist in the engine conversion on my Escort. I'll do what I can beforehand because I really want it to be as straighforward as possible, but there might well be a fair bit left to do come the play weekend if things outside of A52 keep going the way they are at the moment... This! Yes! I'll get involved for sure! Prime time to redo the chassis notch with the driveshafts out too?

This! Yes! I'll get involved for sure! Prime time to redo the chassis notch with the driveshafts out too? Yep...and probably a few other jobs that I simply didn't get time to do before the Gathering. I'll try and get as much stuff sorted beforehand so that everything is in place to do the swap etc...on the weekend and might see (time permitting) if I can get some machining done on the front struts too then, hopefully, things might go according to plan over the weekender. I might even then be able to get it to the Classic Ford show on the 2nd June. I'd better get planning! Thanks for the comment though, it's great to know you're behind this! I'll be supplying some beers for this too.

I'd love to lend a hand too Bruce, I've taken a few engines out of Minis so it can't be that different right? I've got small hands too and am used to working in tight spaces, for any little fiddly bits! Also, I don't know if you saw my post on FB about the possible donation to A52 of a chainsaw in need of a bit of TLC, and some potential firewood for the burner?

How about a tutorial on what to do in the event of a fire when starting the new engine up for the first time?

Look forward to seeing you down there House, we LOVE cooking meat as well so I'm sure you'll fit right in. Bring plenty of beer and a sleeping bag ...so I might be calling on the combined help of the Area 52 massive to assist in the engine conversion on my Escort. +1, all hands ready considering all I've done is work on my own cars the past few weekends. Really looking forward to this one and looks like I have it off work as well!

Provided my Mini is back together and road worthy by then (which it should be),
I'd love to help out as much as possible with the conversion on the escort ;D

Really want to get involved in this, I'm local ish and think it'd be awesome to spend a weekend working on cars with a bunch of like minded people, i've met Speedy before when i had my 340 but apart from that i've not met anyone else!
I'm capable with a spanner and more than willing to help, But i make a curse word cup of tea!

Hey Dan, would be good to have you on board. Give Bruce a bit of time to get back to you and should be all set

Me and Al are deffo 100% down for this Bruce, hope that's cool, pretty sure I mentioned it at Brean very briefly.
Cannot wait to get stuck in on the Escort - nice to have a target for a weekender.

One week to go Escort playing sounds like a nice plan to me too. A thought's just occurred to me. There's racing going on at Castle Combe on the Monday, which I'll certainly be going along to to catch up with my old college who are running their Radical PR6 in the Sports & GT. Anyone else fancy coming along? Combe's website describe it as: "Lots of Japanese cars, including MR2s and the Nippon Challenge and our own championships for Formula Ford 1600, Sports & GTs and a packed grid of Saloons. The 125 Open National Karts add contrast to proceedings." Sounds pretty good to me.

internet in Wales? They've barely got electricity, and even that is only got in small quantities from rubbing sheep together.
