So this December play weekend, building more drift trikes was the main thing on the agenda. I turn up late friday night, with work and antics already under way.
Bruce is piecing together one of 3(?) green machines, as an alternative to the standard trike.
Pip dons some lilac overalls and starts grinding.
My "soon to be drift trike" BMX frame kindly found and bought by Chris (Diablou) and delivered by Ryan awaits stripping down and cannabilising.
Grub in the form of fish and chips is on the menu, and Robin uses his multi-coloured trike as seat. "I say sir, this tub of mushy peas is rather good what what!"
Rich is cracking on with his trike
Axle going on
I go to sainsburys for grub and cash while Mark "I don't need goggles" case starts work on his BMX (thanks to Dave and Pip for these next few photos)
Dave then decides it'd be a good idea to drift round with the "modification" of a wheeley chair bottom end
aaaaannnd has a crash
Rich creates a spark tree
More work pilfering parts and chopping frames
Bruce gives Pip a welding lesson
ARARRRRGGH
Bzzzzz
Rich trial fits wheels and a seat to his now "pimp" trike . . . a little bit long for Dave!
More grinding . . .
Speedy Case welds the rear section of his trike
Rich on his now complete trike (awaiting paint)
That concludes the pics for the friday. We all get up to find a crisp clear winter morning, and get cracking with more trike building.
Sven pulls in mini to swap to winter wheels
While rob fafs with his mini's dash . . .
After a little more faffing and extending the rear a little for my height, my trike is starting to look more like a trike in the morning sun, awaiting axle welding . . .
I proceed to weld the axle on . . . (cheers to Rich for these)
BOOM!!
Rich preps his frame for foot pegs
and welds them on
pegs welded on!
Happy Jon! One finished trike frame
I chop up some tube length to put in between the wheel bearings
Rich fine tunes his trike (cheers to Dave for taking these two!)
TRIKE FRIENDS!!
Dave, "Why hello there. . . " (Pip took this one)
Dave has revenge! "get that camera out of my face!"
Dave and Robin chatting outside
Meanwhile I'm still making my trike, fitting new wheel bearings . . .
. . . and straightening handlebars
james stuffs his face
BRUCE!!
(Pip has been a bit trigger happy with the camera . . . sorry Bruce)
Mark's trike near completion
Robin tweaks his bike
"BWAAAAPP!! Green machine!!"
Mark and Bruce working
Outside, Dave fits some new ARB links to his ovlov
and is unsure of the safety of his car . . .
Casualty from last months drift triking, bruce's trike seat. Now drift spec.
Drift trike numbers start increasing . . .
Bruce decides cable ties are not enough, so starts to melt the seat back together.
Rich is painting his frame, sparkle red!
As dark falls, Ryan and Robin manage to pick up Ryan's BMX, and get started. The trike is finished in record time!
Rich's trike put back together and finished!
More gas pipe is dropped off, and Ian proceeds to chop it to length
and me and Rob start doing the hard bit of trike making, fitting the wheels into the tube
Bruce gets out the spray gun to paint his trike nato green
Pip falls over, and nobody cares.
Ian tries out the pimp trike
Maiden voyage!
Bryn turns up and starts taking pics, the remote flash going off every now and then, with him hiding in a corner somewhere.
Rich's trike, in all its pimptastic glory
OH HAI!!
Re-fitting of the parts to Bruce's now painted trike
"Hey DAVE!! EF YOU!!"
So after we've all finished building, we head to ashton court for some trike drifting action. I didn't take any pics, but the ever amazing Corbs turned up with video cameras in hand, and has done a brilliant edit of the night! Enjoy.
