HA! Woops. Muchos apologies for the lack of pictures! So without further ado . . .
Chris likes cameras!!
I took a lot of pics of Chris' civic, because a) it is awesome, 3) I've never seen it in the flesh before, and z) it's awesome. Mmmmm
Hmm, that isn't straight *kick*
Meanwhile we discover a little gem hidden away . .
oooooooh
while Bruce does some "modifications"
The plan for the next day was to strip the Lotus down, for James an engine swap, and for me, brake re-building on the Volvo.
As the night went on, more pics were taken, and Rich felt a bit left out, so whipped out his camera phone!
Bruce gets confused "what the . . . I don't even . . ."
Chris takes more pics
So the next day work begins on stripping down the Lotus . . .
GRINDING!
So as this is going on, me and Chris get cracking on my volvo's brakes. Braided lines, a new RH caliper, solid lines and a hydraulic handbrake were to go in. "Done in a day" I thought. . . .
The first problem, I got sent the wrong master cylinder
Meanwhile, engine is removed from the lotus
As we needed to get the carpet up for welding the hydro mounting bracket, we got rid of the sound deadening on the volvo too
Horrific "used to be" crossmember on the lotus :S
James is halfway through engine swappage
I manage to weld in the mounting bracket
Bruce studies more lotus
James fixes some holes in the zorst
Bruce grinds to remove stuff.
Me, Chris and my mate Adam get the lines in and hydro mounted
We then go to bleed the brakes, and long story short, nothing worked. The master cylinder was beyond stuffed, bubbling everytime pressure was put on the brake pedal, the lines we made weren't sealing (cheapo brake flaring tool, load of s***). I was getting stressed too, as my insurance was out at midnight, and wanted to drive it home legally.
James finishing off the engine swap (Chris took this one)
Robin, Chris, Pollit and I try to repair/stop leaks/bleed the brakes, to no avail, with pollit donning the "the brake fluid head protector" aka empty stella box.
Chips, beer and brake fluid, an odd combo
So after hours of perseverance from everyone, the brakes were just not happening, my face shows my un-amusement. . .
and Robins face says it all
So Bruce let me leave the car at the unit for a few days, while I sorted out a new M/C. Chris was kind enough to give me a lift home at 3am (legend). The car is now completely sorted, with many thanks to Bruce and James for that!
Working on a car, being my hobby, should be fun. I wasn't having any in the early hours of that night. Never again shall I work to a deadline. I'm so sorry for showing everyone my angry side, it won't happen again! Thanks to you all for helping out and cracking on even at 2am, you're all legends guys.
and a shot Pol took of the volvo's interior.
See you guys at the gathering, and next months play weekend!
