Does anyone know if this Rapid is still about? Was owned/built by a friend of mine, Eric Cox, but was sold a few years ago, and all Eric can recall is that the chap he sold it to got booked for speeding on the way home. The reason i ask is that i have just bought the rollcage that was fitted to the car when built.

Was that the same one that was featured in a group Skoda test in an old CCC magazine, and the engine blew mid-way through?

don't remember it being in CCC but it was in Max Power on a group test and developed engine problems.

I'll dig it out sometime... It was deffo CCC mag I saw it in, I've never bought Max Power ;D In fact, in my minds eye I'm SURE it's the same car - same wheels deffo, and the scoops on the side - but for some reason I think it was yellow? Maybe it's old age playing tricks on me

I remember a yellow Scooby powered Rapid in a test in CCC, that blew the engine in a cloud of smoke.
All the time i've known the car it was red.

Doesn't have a new V5. Don't think it exists anymore. Either that or it's distinctly off-the-road.

www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/index.jspclick "vehicle enquiry" follow the instructions, and et voila Note - it will not tell you wether the vehicle has been written off or scrapped, as far as I know hence me thinking that car is off the road - as it hasn't had a new V5c or been taxed for 7 years

Really? Hadn't thought of using it for that, ace to know!
DVLA have been nothing but excellent with us recently, been changing lots of serial and VIN numbers on one of ours cars, didn't charge us anything and sent us a new, refilled correct MOT form and V5! ;D

The details shown would be the same no matter if it is tax exempt, the only difference is you don't pay, everything else is the same as any other car.
Unlicenced is no tax or no sorn declaration, full stop. It would only be any worry to you from the day you buy it, get a Sorn on it straight away if you don't intend using it now. When the V5 comes back in your name with the Document number on it you can SORN it.
