keefy in da house: dare we ask about the 'only other' night?Sure it was in the mid 80's when Las Vegas PD had some serious problems with Street Racing on Paradise Road out at the Las Vegas Airport, it could be 3-400 cars & bikes and it was insane, I even heard that some people got killed in accidents out there, it was wild... At that time I spent some time Street Racing in Irvine & The Valley on a Harely XR 1000 www.american-v.co.uk/roadtests/2002/xl883r/xr1000_2.jpg that had Riviera reworked heads, Dellortos replaced by Mikuni Flat Slides, Supertrapp exhaust and running on NOS, the bike had a stretched swingarm, was lowered, everything not needed removed and with a real "drag race look"..... Every now and then "The Boys" used to go out to Vegas for some gambling and fun, sometimes we even did a "spot of racing" but mostly we hung out at Hard Rock, Nudes on Ice, Ceasars Palace etc. This time we were 6 on various Harleys rolling out of LA, among us was Mickey Rourke, my LA next door neighbour Mike Madsen and some other low lifes. After checking in at Treasure Island we went for a cruise around Vegas to see what shows was where and to just check it out. It was a nice warm May night and at around 2am we went out to the Airport to see what was going on, sure there were some 150-200 cars & bikes out there. We walked around looking at bikes & cars and all of a sudden we see a crowd gathering around our bikes, we walk over and there was some dude who I had nailed badly in Irvine, he was real pushy and wanted a re-match, did not really feel like doing it so I let Mike take my bike and cream the kid. Some 30minutes later a crew from Vegas pulled up on Ninjas & Katanas with a nasty drag racing look, they were going on about racing and I gave in, picked off 2 of them then the others all of a sudden had stomach or motor problems and cooled down.... 10 minutes later there were bluelights all over the place and everybody started to split, since we were on bikes we were easy targets for the Cops so all 6 of us and 3 of the Ninja dudes were rounded up and hauled off to Conty Jail for the night, they had no proof of who had been driving what and when the Cops understood they had caught 2 movie stars in the act of Illegal Street Racing they made damned sure there was a bunch of press at County the next morning when we were let go, we got fined some $200 each and was told to leave Las Vegas right away, even got a Highway Patrol Bike Cop to escort us to State Line where we had lunch with him and a cool chat, before we left he said see ya all next weekend, ehhh, turns out he also did some street racing in Barstow on a Kwack Z13000 but I never race in Nevada, that would be a crime....DP says: Ketchup effect is a Swedish term I think.....

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

The problem I have with speed cameras is that they are a 'one size fits all' solution to the problem of road safety. I would much rather see 1000's more MARKED police cars on the road, TBH... at the moment you can have no licence, tax or MOT, 4 bald tyres, and be driving while pi$$ed as fart, but as long as you drive at 1 MPH under the speed limit you're 'safe'. A mate of mine got done in his Audi TT (ABS ect) when he accelerated briefly so he could create a gap to SAFELY change lanes in a 30, he only had to go on a speed awareness course as he wasn't doing more than 36... Agree strongly

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Can I be in the Retro Rides movie too? Could call it... Rebel Without a Clue perhaps? ;D Seriously though, you really do need to get an autobiography out Dp, your stories make for good reading!
