Morning all
I need to get my Beetle floorpan sandblasted and powdercoated. I have spoken to a couple of places and they don't think it will fit in there rooms.
Does anyone know of any places in Surrey that I can call?
Cheers

Hi all Their is a company in Kent Ashford Chroming They obviously do chroming work, but also do a host of other restoration services - one is shot blasting car body shells. They do a lot of them. I have seen the process in action and seen their huge blasting bay. I think it costs from £300-£500 a shell obviously depending on the amount of work/time involved. I don't know costs for floor pan but i know they also do zine priming nd powder coating They have some pics and info on their site of their shot blasting process, or course sandblasting is now illegal. www.ashfordchroming.com/shot-blasting

Why do you want to powder coat it? Powder coating is way over rated. If you get a chip on a powder coated surface it will continue to spread, get a chip on regular painted surface with the right prep, and it'll just stay as a chip. Also the finish is curse word and you can get problems if you try to repaint it in the conventional way. Get it sandblasted, then get busy with some POR15. To blast 4 wheels would cost about anything from £60 to £120, dependant on size, design, and the reason you want them blasted, bad corrosion, or just to get them back to metal.

+1 for not getting it powder coated! It chips and lifts and can trap water under it.
Get it zinked and wet painted. Should last a lot longer and be easier to touch up.

I cant imagine it takes more than 15 mins to strip a wheel bare Having attempted to blast some wheels myself, I'd say that's about right. It'll take an hour to an hour and a half to do four wheels with a large professional machine, so at £30 an hour plus the overheads, about right? I see you're in Oxfordshire, there's the old central blast cleaning people in banbury, have you tried them?

Sammo, you could try Adept Industrial Finshers. They are situated just off the Thornton Heath "ponds" roundabout on the A23 Purley Way. They media and soda blast, car bodies are no problem. They also powder coat, not sure on wet paint finishes though. Definately worth a try I reckon. Cheers, Richard.

I don't think the wheels i do up and sell on, would be viable to get blasted at £15 per wheel, as i wouldnt cover my costs, so would end up selling at a loss, instead of breaking even or making a few beer tokens.
