Evenin' all! I'm thinking of getting a new car in the next few months, I'm really loving my J cars atm, I currently own a Subaru Legacy. I really fancy a Nissan 300ZX twin turbo and was just wondering if anyone owns one or who has had experience with them? What are they like as a daily/track car? -As, thats what it would be used for. Have a few pic's for your time. Thanks Andy

Went to south of france for two weeks in one. Two of my mates had em at the same time an auto and a manual and they are really impressive but REALLY complicated and expensive to put right when wrong! I'm not aware of any inherent problems apart from obvious turbos etc.. but they are really quick! Handle well too but they knock bushes out pretty quickly. Also my mate with the manual one put brand new discs and pads on it before we went and when we got back they were so warped they needed changing again - actually I think thats an inherent problem related to the bushes goin. And you can't buy brake pads for them in France - FACT!!

fine cars when they are working right, a pain in the butt when they go wrong, very limited space in the engine bay on the tt, depends how much you want to pay for one, pay peanuts for a clunker and it could be a nightmare, then again i know a few owners who swear by them and never have a problem, come in short wheel base and long, short is the better looker in my books

I recall Simon Norris looking up to me with his head underneath the bonnet of a Z, saying whatever you do, don't buy one. They can overheat, and as mentioned they are very complex when the go wrong, strict 60k maximum cambelt changes too. Having said that, I love the Z32, and they are fast. I think the main thing is, just do your research and go and see a dog as the first one, (so you won't be tempted to buy the first one you look at). If you get a good one, you should be laughing, if you get a badun, you wont!

The twin-turbo engine is shoehorned into the front of it with no room to spare, as others have said, which can cause overheating and make them a little bit fiddly to work on. Very fast and cool though, and can easily be coaxed to much higher power levels.

I had, one, paid 700 quid for it with a burst heater matrix, i did a few thousand miles and it never missed. VERY fast and handle well, not good on fuel ! lol They are hard to work on, changing the turbos is an engine out job.# but i would recommend owning one at some point, you wont regret buying a rough one just to try it.

ive currently got a soarer ATM mate, they are nice cars, lots of toys, but don't handle all that well as standard, not compared to the 300zx, and from what i remeber the soarer is heavier, by about 200 kgs

at the moment I have a few cars in mind, including the Integra Type R (DC2), the 300zx, RX-8 or an old Evo 2. Theres probably more but those are the main 4 currently.

They've avoided the 18 - 25 chav brigade (as well as the Supra) because of high insurance prices and petrol cost. They're quite common.

This was mine: was running a fair bit of power, always serviced / maintained by Abbey motorsport in surrey. Beautiful to drive, got everyones attention all the time and quick as well. downside? was getting repaired every 2000 miles especially electrics, HICAS, etc so paying around 1K to fix then 2000 miles ish then another 2K..............at the end it wouldnt start as the loom needed repairing due to damp weather etc. car cost me 6K, spent over 15K on parts, like importing drift wheels, kakimoto exhaust, full hks engine management etc advertised it everywhere....all i got for it was 1K! couldnt break it as i had an arm injury. What rubbed salt in my face in the end is the scooby STi RA i bought before it went was faster and that was standard! Paid 4.5K for the scooby, now valued at 6.5K the moral is? wouldnt have another money pit like that again for a while, you lose so much money running skylines supras etc cos they cost an arm and a leg to fix. BUT.....i really miss it and would love to have another but not yet....wheres that lottery card? ;D

My good bud munny975 on here (he has a thread somewhere in the rides section) has been rocking one for a few years and everything that everyone has said above is true to 13924%. Awesome cars - fast - the engine is an orchestra of awesomeness at full chat, fairly comfy, cool as feck and kids ask him if it's a ferrari haha not sure if that's a good thing. But - best mpg he gets is about 26mpg on the motorway, just under 20 in town, so not cheap to run. Everything is an engine out job, not many companies touch it. I fitted some gauge senders for him and swore for 3 hours or so lol! His boost control went boobs up (we never found out whose fault it was), costing 2 blown turbos and an engine at 160mph on a private track, costing him £3000 for another one fitted with recon turbos. Overly complex but there is a bit of weight saving to be done if you want to go to town on it. Difficult finding a decent one these days as many are advertised as 500hp fire breathing monsters by owners who don't know the first thing about engines. If i remember right the stock t25s start running out of breath at 340ish bhp so 450hp claims should be taken with a pinch of salt. some of his pics from zedfest
