Been pulled over a few times in my younger days... first time I was driving the garage's Fiat Fiorino van... no MOT, no tax, one trade plate, misuse of trade plates... I only got done for the MOT, £30 fine I seem to remember. Second time I was in my ratty MK3 Cortina (when it was just an old banger), the copper told me that 'we stop Cortinas as they're so easy to steal...' The last time (as far as I can remember...) I was in my MK2 Sceptre, about 15 years ago, I was on my way home from work at about 4.15 in the afternoon, on a country lane... the copper was going the other way and turned round to follow me. I suppose the car did look a bit dodgy... no trim or bumpers and patches of primer all over it... He reconed he pulled me because the front No. plate was held on with wire... There's a copper in our car club (he's building a Devon pick up hot rod )... one of the old school, he was telling us that there's no love lost (or words to that effect.. ) between the 'real' police and the civilain contracters that man mobile camera vans... he hates doing speed traps and recons he gives people a bit of leeway. If he's out in the patrol car and sees a cool motor he knocks on the door... only trouble is he's still in police mode and lays into it like the sweeny... the poor sod with the car wonders what the feck he's done wrong, and all the neighbours are coming out to see whats going on... ;D

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Been tugged a few times, but never for anything more than the rozzers wanted something to do. Usually quite sociable The only nasty one was when a fed tried to carve me up on a roundabout near Epping. He followed me for 3 miles before putting the blues on.... then started shouting the odds at me, saying he was gonna do me for this and that, have my car impounded etc. Fact was, he was blatantly in the wrong to begin with. He went through and checked all my tyres etc,,and wanted to know what was in the boot.... I opened it, and when he saw it contained cans of road paint, a pick-axe and a 14lb sledge hammer he wanted to fit me up for 'carrying offensive weapons' of some nonsense. It took quite a while to calm him down and explain they were merely tools of my job Sadly he couldn't find anything wrong with his car and had to radio in to try and work out what to do next. I could hear the contoller telling him not to be so daft, or words to that effect, and I was sent on my way. They still followed me to my worksite (at 29mph all the way ) though. Obviously, I took note of his number & made a complaint later that day about his language and attitude ;D

When i was only a wee 18yr old, Cops pulled us on way past Elland on way back from pubs. turned into closed Kwiksave carpark to examine a BMX jump, (and shake off the folowing cop) Must of looked well dodgy thinking back; rough area, tattly fast Mk1 Festa Ghia, full of wierdos, apparently checking out a lump of grass behind a store at about 12am! He was not friendly at all and forced me into his car with the help of a big police torch. Just another producer thankfully :-(

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I had a funny one in 1992 , Our little Fiatr got hit head on & was written off & while the insurance company sorted it all through a friend of mine's dad part owned a garage . Anyway he let me Buy an FSO Polonez Estate real cheap & promised to take it back at the price we paid for it when all was sorted . Anyway i had the car full of old junk to take to the local junk shop & was circling the block trying to find a place to park the "Tank" erm ! Polonez . I got pulled by the rozzers & they searched the car & me , I asked them what it was all about & they explained that a car the same as mine had been reported being used in a bank raid !!! , I was literally crying with laughter in front of them . I told them "If anyone was stupid enough to use a Polonez as a getaway car then they deserve to get caught!" , They promptly let me go .
