Sorry - it isn't exactly retro, but I'm convinced someone will be interested.
I'm fed up of the constant ads on tv for this automotive blandocity, so I've emailed ford... *NB the Arosa is the missus' and to be honest, we arent looking to trade it in, and would never buy a ford or a new car anyway.
(also, apologies to our non-uk r-riders who will have no idea what I'm on about).

Good call........ Shame they won't listen! manufactures stopped listening to customers a while back - they now rely on consultants to tell them what we want!

i would have more faith, i have contacted SKODA through their website twice recently and both times they have been incredibily helpful with personal replies. One guy sent me out a lovely great technical info pack on the octavia vRS MK1 and MK2 at Skoda's expense!

no...i clearly told them i was building a Rapid and wanted to find out how heavy the vRS engine was so that i could decide whether to use it or not. none of this, we could see you this, this and that, for x amount. less useful when i enquired about training schemes and told me i had to send my CV to VW, but then that is understandable.

Is that the one that boasts I-pod connectivity ?
Until you see the small print at the end of the ad that says it`s an optional extra ...

i've not seen it, shows how much time i get to rot my brain in front of the TV these days! is it the 2006 Fiesta that has the billboard ads boasting "voice control"? how does that work? how clever is it? If i call it a piece of sh't will it just sulk and not go over 15mph?

Skodanorman totally should get a job at skoda, put a link to RR threads on your CV.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I bet you do get a reply And you will possibly get an invite to one of their focus groups as well. You would be surprised at how important the "Man in the streets" opinion is.... I wouldnt turn your nose up at it just yet..... go and have a test drive, really drive it and you may change your mind. Ford, starting with the Ka, have really come a long way in the last few years, and dynamically there is not much out there to touch them, they will quite literally run rings round a Golf (Whatever dress its got on today ;D) and the reliability is now better than everything non Japanese ;D Which is a long long way from the Mk 4/5/6 escort days where they really could not be arsed

Are they listening?
Who to??
I am utterly bemused by the new ford focus. The old one was such a radical AND well thought through design, and a pretty pleasant car to drive too. The new one is a proper case of 'styled by comittee' - and from what I've heard less reliable and a worse drive. They'll still sell 18billion of them, but it just seems a 'lazy' piece of design - a step back rather than another one forward.
