Ok, this was meant to be my weekend fun car, but a year later and I've put 12k miles on it - eek! It's just getting used too much and even though it's been completely reliable, I need something cheaper to run. The car has been built up to a great spec by the previous owner, comprising:
Engine / Gearbox:
Brakes / Chassis:
The car is lovely and torquey in normal driving, and really takes off above 4500rpm. Plus, you don't have the issue of a horrible idle due to lumpy cams etc.
Other bits include smoked indicator lenses, Duo Styling Oil pressure, Temp, Volts guages, Autostadt numberplate holders, Thatcham Cat 1 Cobra Alarm with RCL, Both original keys with torch & 16v covers
In the 12 months I've owned the car, it's had the following:
Bad Points:
Not too many for 19 years old...has the usual 2nd gear crunch when cold (had it when I bought it and 12k miles later it's no worse - behaves fully once warm), driver's seat bolster worn (not awful), needs ARB link soon and new exhaust rubbers (MOT advisories)
I really am gutted to have to sell this, it's such a good car, and it's in the best spec and colour. It has every old MOT and an entire folder full of history and reciepts plus a full build diary from the engine convsersion. Needless to say, I'm not letting this go for peanuts - I don't care if your mate bought one for a grand, so please don't waste your time telling me! Please PM me if any more info is needed.

Engine / Gearbox:
- Audi 6A 2 litre bottom end (90k when fitted)
- Crissel ('Man in the Shed') worked cylinder head and ported matched cast exhaust manifold (more reliable than a four branch) - ££££!
- Lightened flywheel (by CGTI's 'Hotgolf'), new clutch when flywheel was fitted
- Baffled sump
- All new engine mounts (solid front), belts, gaskets, tensioners, tappets, cam chain, nuts and bolts etc when engine / head went in a few years ago
- WUR modified as per Stealth’s spec, ignition timing set to factory 6 degrees BTDC, always run on super unleaded.
- Large Mocal oil cooler fitted with thermostatic sandwich plate.
- Weighted shift rod
- Recently reconditioned original 90amp alternator
- Power steering
- Correct semi synthetic oil & genuine filter changed every 6k miles
- Not been RR'd since head fitting but estimate 170 bhp / 150lbsft, very quick, smooth and useable with excellent economy and reliability.
- Revs very freely to over 7k rpm and will pull strongly in 5th from 30 - 130mph (on the autobahn!) No problem keeping up with (or leaving behind) most modern hot hatches.
Brakes / Chassis:
- 280mm front brakes - Brembo plain discs, Pagid FR pads
- Mk3 rear calipers (no sticky handbrake)
- Goodridge braided lines with ATE ‘Superblue’ fluid – no brake fade
- Eibach lowering springs, approximately 40mm drop – firm and good handling but not too harsh for daily use.

In the 12 months I've owned the car, it's had the following:
- 4 x Yokahama Tyres
- BBS's professionally refurbed with the rim polished
- 2 good 2nd hand nearside doors fitted (originals scabby) and full side of the car professionally painted and blended (cost over £800)
- Grille spoiler fitted & professionally painted
- New radiator
- New radiator fan & CV boot (2 weeks ago - cost £377!)
- New Aircon Condensor (cost over £340!)
- Full Sebring twin rounded square exhaust (2 box system so no louder than standard)
- Full service
