Thought this one might create a few laughs! We received the CF in an 'already customised' state. Sadly, as if often the case, the quality of the work left something to be desired! It had already been running a 3500 Rover V8, but this had already been removed when it came to us. This is the van as we got it. The front end had been constructed in such a way that it was virtually impossible to get the engine in/out. A CF normally has a removable front panel, but the 'body mods' meant this was no longer possible... Nothing a 9" grinder couldn't sort though!! Front end suitable altered, it was time to offer up the new Range Rover 4.6 and check clearances etc. No major problems, and cold feet certainly won't be an issue!! We'll be re-doing the tunnel/bulkhead area that has been butchered a bit as it stands and the mo.

Yep, new wheels are on the extensive list of stuff for it.
Already well on the way through it, so you won't have long to wait to see progress (it was started a few months ago... Just only posted the first few pics so far.... Keep ya guessing!)

First job was to sort all the previous botched work out The rear arch extensions had been very roughly formed freom segments of steel, welded straight over the original rusty arch lips, and then 'formed' with solid filler. The filler shaping on the van is actually ok, so we really wanted to leave this alone as much as we could. The only solution to access and rectify the rear arches was to completely cut out the inner arch boxes so we could work on them from the inside..... 1) remove arch boxes to reveal the curse word underneath: 2) cut away the original rusty arch lips so the 'extension' becomes the new outer arch. 3) cut back the rotten sill-ends and refabricate (no concours job this, just a solid job that will last).... Only got snaps of the old metal removed, forgot to take any of the new bits! 4) refabricate new arch boxes that extend all the way to the outside of the van, thus eliminating the 'rust trap' behind them! 5) Bond the new arch boxes to the outer skin of the van with P.U adhesive, and drown the lot in zinc primer and underseal! Sorted! ;D

Engine bay all silky-smooth, time to get it painted... And this is the point where I give away the colour. It's Jaguar Morrocco Red, a colour you see on a few old XJ40's... Very dark pearl metallic red. ALmost looks black in low light, but the sun picks out a gorgeous deep metallic purple/red tone.... Can't wait to get it all painted! ;D ;D

Cheers ;D Our rates are very reasonable anyway, so no discounts I'm afraid ( ) but on a big project it's basically £20 p/h and that applies to all work (which works out very well for customers as we are able to do virtually everything in house.... Blasting, painting, plating, fabrication, machining.... basically everything except retrimming work) I notice you username.... Are you a manta Owner? I've got one myself, a 1980 GT/J (getting rare now). Always loved mantas... We are building one at the moment for a customer, but it's a bit secret.... Look out for it at Billing this year. Suffice to say it's a 400 Rep and very powerful!

Assume you've seen the shuvvit we've done, and the kadett turbo? We have a Saab turbo engine knocking about as we were planning something similar, but to be honest there are a lot of difficulties in that conversion.... An LET would be a better route. Either way, feel free to pick our brains, as we know all the difficulties of both!
