If you're splitting the BBS that'd be awesome. As long as they're the same offset as mine (27mm I think? something around that anyway) I'm in no hurry, but before October 14th (the rocco's MOT) would be great if you're this way at all.
Edit: Just had a look at where High Wycombe is and if you're not going to be in the South West any time soon then I'm sure I can pop up and get it anyway, I keep meaning to visit Oxford sometime soon as I might be doing the 3rd year of my degree there.

Oh yeah, I got a little more done today. I wasn't in the mood to deal with more rust, so I de-seamed the passenger side a-pillar and then started making the tabs that will be welded onto the rear subframe as the wishbone mounting points. These were a bit of a mission, 16 pieces cut from 5mm steel bar. Each piece needed cutting to length (the bar was already the right width), then they all needed centre-punching for the wishbone mounting hole, then a pilot hole drilling, then finally drilling to 9.5mm for the wishbone mounting bolts. I managed to get them all cut, and all the pilot holes drilled, but then my drill packed in after drilling 9 of the 9.5mm holes. Deseamed A-pillar: Mounting tabs:

Cheers. I finished off drilling the holes in the wishbone mounts and welded them to the rear subframe today. Really satisfying seeing it a little more complete. Hopefully over the weekend I'll make a jig for the wishbones, and I'll get the last parts for them ordered.

Pictures from today, I had to go over to my work experience to drill the last few holes on their pillar drill, and to use their welder, I'm not really happy using mine on 5mm thick stuff, it's not quite man enough. The corners will be rounded off sometime, but it's not a priority at the moment.

This is just such a great build. First thing i check every morning i get in to work! I'm sure this project will get get completed too, theres just too many that progress well I'm the early to mid stages then tail off, but if this is being used for your mapping at uni, theres no excuses. Keep up that enthusiasm!!

Cheers Mark ;D
Just thought I'd update this thread to explain the lack of progress. Basically I've run out of summer holidays. I go back to college on Tuesday, and I've been having to do a mix of college work and getting my daily ready for its MOT.
Although work's stopped, the planning and research has continued, and I've now decided that I'll be ditching the standard front suspension in favour of a tubular front. This should gain me some extra leg room as well as allowing me to get some better geometry on the go.
I'm also now on the look out for a local unit to work on the mini in, this should help me actually make some progress during the term time without annoying my neighbours too much.
I have managed to make some fiberglass A-panels for the mini in the mean time though.

Blimey O'Riley!
Fantastic work! Really enjoyed reading about the fibreglass work (never done any of that) and the CAD stuff is lovely too!
This is going to be a fantastic little car, keep up the great work!

Cheers guys.
Unfortunately there's been zero progress on the mini this month. I've been pretty swamped with college work and changing my daily driver. Once the new daily's settled in, I promise I'll be getting back onto the mini.

Unfortunately it looks unlikely. I'm pretty swamped with college work at the moment, but I'll try and find some time to get a few bits done, even if it's just planning. Also I've ended up lending the college the radical bush's I'd bought for it, as we just bought a PR6 which came with shagged bush's on it. I've kind of resigned my self to the fact that as long as I'm in full time education I'm not going to get it done . I just don't have the funds to rent a proper workshop or pay for some of the more expensive parts I need (main thing at the moment's the roll cage). The trouble is that because of these bloody student fee increases, if I don't do my top up year (to turn my FdSc into a BSc) this coming September than I'm going to have to pay the new higher fees for that year. I had been planning to take a year out before doing this, so I could finish the mini and have some time to relax, but it looks like that's not really a sensible option anymore. So it's looking like unlikely to get finished until early 2013. Which really does suck. It kind of depends on how much my specific coarse goes up by too, and I'll probably apply for a few jobs over the summer in the off-chance I can get something decent with just the FdSc (Although I'd like to get the BSc sooner or later really). So if I do take a year out it should be early 2012. Funnily enough I'd just stuck some up to dare screen shots of the CAD model on facebook a few minutes ago, so I might as well stick them up here:

Thats a shame but I know what you mean. Definitely better to put the time and effort into uni projects where you actually get a qualification out of it, and no point rushing a project on limited funds if its not going to be how you want it at the end of it. Will be looking forward to seeing it get underway again!

That does suck, i was in the same situation when I was at uni. Over my four year course I got very little done. It so depressing that I have had my project since I was 19, I am now 25 and you have gotten much further than I have!
Make sure that you keep it up, its difficult to keep going. I have spent most of my time recently just sorting out all the rust that has appeared, (I store it outside) which is also quite depressing!
Will be looking forward to seeing some more!
