"acting like that"... acting like what, have I missed something?
VIP have you PM'd him via pistonheads? I might have a mobile number for him somewhere if you're really struggling.
I've met BC loads of times and found him to be as sound as anyone you could wish to meet, certainly i would not have thought he would be into scamming people out of ÂŁ1 here and ÂŁ3 there via an internet-based sticker scam.

I would not have thought he would be into scamming people out of ÂŁ1 here and ÂŁ3 there via an internet-based sticker scam. My thoughts exactly, not like its enough money to retire on. But very annoying for thems who have paid up and recieved nothing and no explaination.

You haven't shagged his mum or anything HW? Not as far as I'm aware,.. but you never know... I've met BC loads of times and found him to be as sound as anyone you could wish to meet, certainly I would not have thought he would be into scamming people out of ÂŁ1 here and ÂŁ3 there via an internet-based sticker scam. These are my thoughts on the matter. The problem has come about as I've not been quick enough to sort out an alternative supply of stickers. If Ian isn't replying to PMs then no one should be paying for stickers. There are a couple of people who paid for things before he stopped using the forum (for whatever reason (he still logs in)), who need stickers. Other people that have requested stickers in the thread since my post about not being able to get in touch with Ian should be PM'd in due course (may take a little bit as we need to do an order and stuff) about what they wanted. Not sure we'll do the ELV stickers as I think that was more of a bstrdchild thing. Also StayinLowClothing (if you read this) I've got an email to send you, but lack of home internet means I've not been able to send it.

VIP have you PM'd him via pistonheads? I have sent a couple of PMs to Ian via PH on request from HoTWire who is not a PH member. Ian has been active on PH but chosen not to respond. I certainly wouldn't say he is the type of person to rip people off either, but continuing to log into RR whilst folks are chasing stickers they have paid for, and not offering them a reply or explanation, is certainly odd behaviour and doesn't reflect well on the forum. It's the last I'll say on this matter, I just thought it was unfair on forum members that this issue was dead in the water. It's certainly not my responsibility to get so involved as to phone him, I merely PM'd him on PH at the request of David.

I just thought it was unfair on forum members that this issue was dead in the water. It is good that you raised it again and pushed it, with everything else going on it didn't have that higher priority on my list of things to do. It is now at the top. As I said before I hope to be able to sort it out one way or the other this week.

Personally i think if you can kick up such a stink about something as simple as stickers you must have nothing much to do in life. I have bought stickers off a different RRer and they never arrived, so i just went 'meh thats life' and moved on, its not like you paid out hundreds of pounds is it

I haven't spoken to Ian for ages so can't explain his RR dissapearance. But I will just say that if he is doing anything at all dodgy I would be VERY surprised. About a year and a half ago some real bad family related stuff happened to me and I suffered a breakdown and did a few stupid things including deleting my account on here. When I started seeing sense and came back here Ian and I exchanged a few PM's about it and TBH he came across as one of the most caring guys ever and extremely supportive.
Of course I might be wrong, but from my experience of Ian I don't think there's anything dodgy going on.

Wasn't it just this past summer that Ian was working his tookas off as a volunteer so YOU OTHER GUYS at the RRG could zoom around on the Haynes roadcourse? Or am I dreaming that all up? Other people here have disappeared for months at a time with unfulfilled obligations or parts or wheels or whatever, and slack was provided. I would hope there is some charity in our collective hearts for a mate who deserves a bit of slack to perhaps re-group. My god, Haiti has fallen to the ground, the international banking system is in shambles, no lunchpail jobs left in the western hemisphere, and that's all OK. But we're going to crucify a man who volunteered for years here and helped stage a fun weekend over some vinyl decals he's behind on? Proportions, gents. Look into proportions. You never know what has transpired in a friend's life to cause discomfort, embarrassment, or lack of follow-through. And I'm much more concerned about he, the person, than anything else. Had a friend put a bullet in his head day after Christmas. That will give you some proportion about people, and the need for human kindness in this cold flinty hard-assed world we live in. Letters of Norm to The Retrodians, Chapter One.

I can't explain his absence on here but I did have dealings with him when his nephew bought my old Mini project. He was entirely above board in his dealings with me throughout and made sure I was paid long before the car was dispatched towards Norfolk. From that point of view, scamming the odd quid off people seems unlikely.
Every time I change cars I join a new forum. Every time I pay for the stickers and they actually turn up about 50% of the time. I think we forget sometimes that people give their time up to run these forums for free and that they all have actual lives as well as real ones.

Thats hardly the point. Where do you draw the line? ÂŁ1? ÂŁ10? ÂŁ50? exactly... I'm not one of the guys missing a sticker (lucky realy as the mk1 is nearly done and ordering some was on my list of TO-DO'S in a same situation matter, i payed for a membership on clubpolo and waited ages with this "oh theres a backlog we all have lives" scenario, untill 9 months later i said look wheres my membership? I basically got told to get a life by a few "members" and stop worrying about a 5er.. but thats not the point.. you cant take money for goods or services then not supply... also the fact that i complained and they said read the rules it says " no refunds" but they didnt supply anything grrrrrrrrrr... put simple... they banned me after i asked again... but thats the way clubpolo has gone , because of things like that happening to alot of people... I guess what I'm trying to say, is its easy for it to happen here too!!

Just don't see how people can get so annoyed about paying a couple of quid and not getting a sticker, must just be my more relaxed and chilled personality ;D

I never got the sticker i ordered, I did PM Ian who quickly replied to say it must be lost in the post but the replacements never turned up, I'm not that fussed TBH as it was only a couple of quid, Maybe there was several other people giving him grief and he's decided to give up?.
Maybe it was easier for him just to cut contact than to give reasons why he didn't want to do it anymore.
I'm pretty sure Ian wouldn't do a runner over a few quid.

Just give him a few weeks leway none of us know his reason. It could be a very good one, he may come back and put all right. Regardless whinging about it on here will do no good and may serve to alienate him further which I don't think is in anyones best interests!

surely this should be in forum board and not general by now? Ian has always been a great bloke and I don't think for a nanosecond he'd scam anyone, he's a genuine guy. I don't think this thread full of critisism is exactly going to entice him back if he's just temporarily drifted away maybe we should stop the norfolk RR meets becuase he's spiking our pints?

I was helping Ian at the RRG and he is indeed a jolly nice chap, life must be getting in the way, so i'm sure in time it will get sorted out.
