Model: vw passat GL estate, 1.9TD
Year: 1993
Mileage: 220000
Tax: end of april
MOT: end of march
Location: nr colchester
Price: £750
Additional Information:
ive already offered this to a couple of people on here but havent heard anything back after a couple of days, so I thought id offer it to the wider market.
I drove it back from gatwick coming back via the r-r awards night, seems an ok drive (ive never had a stock height one with stock wheels and tyres, I'm used to coilovers and super-low profiles, so it felt a bit odd at first!!) ive done about 700 miles in it since, and it seems pretty good.
it has FSH all done at main dealers, last stamp about sept last year. even though it is high milage, it really doesnt feel like a high milage car, probably down to religious servicing on the part of previous owners. tax til end of april, mot til march 27th. 2 elderly owners, (I'm the third owner).
used for caravan holidays hence the high milage but good condition.
I had a look over it when I got it and only found a few little problems. the front tyres were close to the limit, but I had a couple of partworns the right size in stock so I fitted em. there was a diesel leak from the top of the fuel pump- this has been fully rebuilt using genuine VAG parts. it goes alright though, feels quite quick for a diesel!
when I collected itthe brakes are spongy and were dragging. ive flushed through the fluid and replaced the flexis and front pads, and now they're much better!
bodily its pretty good, pics of bubbles on A-pillar below, and there is bubbling on the tailgate is just below the vw logo. no signs of any previous repair work. interior is really nice, the best ive seen in one of these, and it appears all the electrikery works- leccy windows, sunroof, etc.
pics-
interior ones-
excuse the jumpleads/mats/fuel can/coat/muddy mats, it acted as emergency recovery vehicle for a mate of mine the other night! should have given it a quick hoover and wipe down really but I didnt have time before taking pics. its very presentable when thats done though!
arches-
I noticed the first one does have a small bubble I hadnt noticed nothing major though. others are sweet.
cracked drivers mirror evident in last one too^^.
laquer on bonnet peeling a bit-
engine bay.(slightly dirty cos of the previous diesel leak)-
what does it need? tbh, close to nothingexcept for slamming to hell ;D
apart from the cracked mirror and minor cosmetics such as the paint bubbles and flaking laquer, theres nothing wrong with it, and its fully serviced up not needing anything for a long time to come.
EDIT- when doing the fuel pump seals I realised the cambelt was overdue, so fitted a new belt and tensioner and retimed the cam, on 29/01/10. I also did an oil and filter change. it runs a lot better and seems more powerful as a result, turbo spools quicker and it pulls harder, and doesnt bog on long slow uphills.
£750 please, the 1.9 turbo diesel estates are hard to find now, especially in good condition. may do some form of deal as usual......
