Mr Olympic, What you propose is possible, using the feed off the oil pressure switch to throw a 5 pin relay so that with the oil pressure light is on the pump is off. Use the start position on the ignition switch to also run the pump when cranking, as soon as the oil light goes out with the ignition switched on, hey presto running pump, also, if you crash and the engine cuts out oil light comes back on and pump off. If I could work my scanner I'd put you up a wiring diagram for it but I'm curse word so I can't. As has been said by PUT and Scary, an inertia switch in the positive feed is a good and cheap way of switching off the fuel if you crash.

How do you pronounce Rzeppa, as in the CV joint? I've heard Repper and Schepper so far.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

Sorry for the really poor scribble, but something like that you mean?

^^^Yeah, I scribbled this and thanks to swmbo it's now scanned it's like yours but with the inertia switch and an additional feed to run the pump whilst cranking (not sure if I've drawn the diode symbol the right way round but you get the idea ) eta - mine makes your 'poor scribble' look like a professional circuit diagram!

Diode's in the right way round but you want it driving the relay, else you try to put a large proportion of the fuel pump motor current through a little diode... it'll get kinda warm kinda quickly.
One school of thought with this is that if you ditch the crank position over-ride the fuel pump doesn't start until the engine has built oil pressure. Some people like that to save on bearing wear, other people don't like it because their oil pumps don't make much pressure on the starter motor.

should I use a plastic primer on my fiberglass valence before painting, or can I hit it straight with celly primer?

I reckon you could get away with getting a good key, and then a couple of coats of a good conventional primer. Those plastic primers are more designed for the more flexible plastics used for bumpers etc. on more modern cars.
OK a question from me:- How much -ve camber can you get away with (for road use) before:- a) you actually make matters worse and b) you star wearing tyres out at an alarming rate?

I've got another one, may be a bit weird..... My front side windows include quarterlights. The Quarterlights are rubbish, being heavy and causing loads of wind noise. So, thinking about getting rid of the quarterlights and making up one large window. I have polycarbonate windows so making a new shape is easy. My question is, would I need to use a glass drop channel on the front edge, for holding the window when it is wound down? Currently, there is a drop channel either side for the main glass, because both sides will drop vertically, simple. But if new window was to follow the curve of the sloping frame, surely there is nothing to slide into a drop channel as the window is wound down, Sorry I don't get it and don't have a normal car to inspect? So, want to go from this type of front window - To this - same doors (prototype facelift car)

you need a vertical bit of window under the angled bit at the front so that it CAN slide in a channel. Not a brilliant pic but its the best one i have, on the Cortina you can see the front window channel, its not right at the front because of the mirror panel.

Or another way to do this: (you'll have to use your imagination as I've been rubbish and not drawn a diagram ) Feed the oil light and relay coil (terminal 85) from number 1 on the ignition switch Terminal 30 still goes to number 2 on the ignition switch Then you don't need the feed from number 3 The idea being, that number 1 drops out when starting, so the relay drops out again and supplies the pump while cranking.

how many people can I legally carry in my Triumph Herald? 4 or 5?
Obviously 2 in the front, but since there is no seat belts in the back is it a case of I can legally carry as many people as will fit, or is there a legal limit of 4 or 5...?
