I bought these in the summer, and have been gradually getting together paints and brushes and whatever. To be honest, fear of failure has been putting me off! Anyway, starting with white boots for a fiver from Primark (forgot to photograph them like that), so far I have done stages one and two: Final stage will be actual graffiti on the black parts. This part will be most challenging!

Thanks! They're nowhere near as shiny as they look here, either, it's the flash. When they're finished, I'll snap 'em in daylight.

Just ordinary acrylics. I'll be interested to see how well it weathers when I'm wearing them, but I can flex the material around without cracking the paint.

Sketch for the next piece. Might buy a couple of paint pens to make the process easier. (these pictures are totally not mine originally, btw)

Next stage. Doing piece number 2 in a more measured way, learned a lot from the first, now not expecting to do it start to finish in one go. Also, got paint markers, which really make the outlining easier, and used those to significantly improve piece number 1

Nice work! .. I really like the book of painted sneakers that I see around occasionally... but I don't need another extra hobby, certainly not one that would involve me buying more shoes I may or may not wear

Um, dude, why does the profile of the skyscraper make a cutout in the breakdancer's foot?

Because I'm an amateur, and planned him badly, and nobody can spraypaint on the sky? Even in New York?

I'm sure Penski does sneakers... in an official way too.

nice work, I've done a bit of painting on all sorts of fabric (mostly clothes and shoes), certianly not easy getting detail on shoes.

Like that - lots.... be nice to see how they stand up to wear etc... (I manage to ruin standard sneakers within minutes usually - I'd go ape if I'd spent all the time on these!) Very cool
