Welcome to the board mate I was hoping you'd put a build thread up of this after seeing/tinkering with it a RRG9 (I had the black E32 and the multitester). Have you managed to get it running yet, was it the injectors?

Quite a job there!
Whats the numbers with those V8's...? Do you know what they weigh, measure, and put out...?

tubing the frontend like this is the best way of doing it. with it being a 90 degree v engine its a little tight between the standard inner wings to say the least front to back space is ok i think. you do need to build a bespoke transmission tunnel. being all aluminium they don't weigh much more than the m20 lump, but less than an m30 i think?? think they put out around 280-300bhp?? finding a manual gearbox for the v8s is a challenge!

I'm glad you got it running in the end. I was the BMW guy attempting to help out at RRG. Adapting a manual box is easy with an adapter plate, but the 9 stud flywheel is the killer. Loving the work so far

what support brackets are you mounting the one piece wings and front panel on?

ive fabricated some little brackets for the front panel for the time being and the wings still use the original mounting points in the bulkhead, this is not permanent though, I'm going to fabricate some bars onto the front panel then some slightly larger tubes onto the chassis legs so it literally slides on. if that makes sense???

hi all, ive uploaded some pics from my phone that were taken over at Huxley Motorsport, this is the stage the car is at atm. this is a mk2 escort bias pedal box with a little cutty cutty choppy choppy, I had hux install it for meand alter pedal positions to somewhere thats going to be comfortable and high enough to suit a false floor/ foot plate over the exhaust tunnel. a major concern I had with the car was the front strut towers and being able to munt the suspension to a proper spherical bearing top mount. as the front of the car is space framed its not just a case of bolting one up, so armed with some drawings of the original dimensions of an e21 I had a chat with hux about it all and this is what we (mainly hux lol) came up with, add a little bit of compbrake spherical top mount sexyness and we got this, when I installed the engine and gearbox i'd set the gearbox mount too low which mean the propshaft wasnt aligned so I asked hux to chop my mount out and make another one, this is what he came up with, one of my specific requests to hux was to make it so I could mould polyurethane into it to "rubber" mount the gear box, ive turned up some sleeves at work that are 20mm OD and 10.2 ID to mould into the polyurethane ( will post this up in a later update) obviously with the gearbox coming up higher this meant that the linkages needed to come up higher so I asked hux to make a little modification to the tunnel i'd put in, this modification will also give me a base for another platform for a hydraulic handbrake assembly I'm also working on, hux flat floored the boot for me too and sunk my fuel tank into the new floor, my favourite part so far is this the exhaust system, only one box ( cherry bomb turbo) 3" in 3" out per bank, 3 inch bore all the way through using proper 3 inch 90 degree bends throughout the system to provide the curves. will post up videos as soon as ive rewired the car, also need to post up the manifolds me and hux built last summer, all tig welded tubular manifolds, thanks for looking. misky

hey cool project! i've just joined the forum so i could chime in on this awesome build. some points/questions: firstly, loving the fabrication work on this, it looks great. have you thought about also replacing the chasis rails at the front of the car to box section? the factory stamped steel channels won't be very strong now that they're not supported along their length by the front wings. new steel would look a lot tidier too i reckon. what are you doing for the fuel pump/s? lift pump and surge tank system? i notice there is no outlet for the fuel at the bottom rear of the tank like there would normally be thats twin 3" exhaust you've building yourself is a bit overkill imo, and might hurt the low down power and torque slightly? it will sound mean though and give good top end power, so its a win in that respect! ;D is this going to be a street car or mainly used for drag racing? that cage looks damn serious and makes me think that at some point you're looking to hit single digits down the quarter, maybe??? lastly, for the guys earlier in the thread who have never seen a v8 in an e21, theres a couple on youtube if you seach e21 340i. i even heard the lexus v8's and supra gearboxes fit in the standard engine bay and tunnel sheetmetal... another option for others wanting to do a similar conversion is the bmw v12. space wise, they're probably actually a much easier fit than the bmw v8's, due to their narrower angle and single cam heads. they're usually cheaper too (at least where I'm from lol). keep up the good work mate, i look forward to the progress of this beast.

340i as reguards to the fuel system, its a baffled tank and ill be using a facet lift pump to a swirl pot, then walbro to the fuel rail. (will probably be in the next udpdate) one of the outlets on top of the tank picks up from the bottom of the tank, front chassis legs are going to get new steel eventually but I'm still in the mocking up stage at the minute, yes the cage is extreme which is what i asked for off hux lol i love it, the cage and the exhaust go hand in hand really because once ive got it on the road the 3.0l wont stay in for very long as i want to build a supercharged 4 litre ideally, which as you say should drastically alter my quarter mile times and also in answer to your earlier question, this is going to be a road car that I'm also going to play with on track,
