I didnt have any probs driving to work today..... I bought some aerosol cans of Hot-Tyre from Halfords yesterday £1.99 a can...... you let a bit of air out of your car tyres and top up with Hot-Tyre...... it makes the tyres red hot so it instantly melts the snow and ice as the wheels go round mmmm, is that a good idea? i thought it was melting snow that causes skidding, while frozen snow enables grip

I had mine out today lots of slippy slidy fun. That little daf went places that some 4x4s where steering clear of. Although I did have to block off the grill with a peice of cardboard in order to stop an annoying carb icing problem. RWD and an LSD makes a suprisingly capable snow vehicle despite its 145 tyres. this is what Gladys looked like at 9am. our Mk3 Ibiza was MOTd and put back as she was struggling a little bit the rest of car park covered with coming on 5 inches yet 14 miles down the road in Aberaeron there was none at all.

Car is parked up in the snow and it can stay there for the meantime. Got the bus in today, just grey slush everywhere. Can't be bothered with it, especially with all the lousy driving out there. Loads of abandoned cars too, I'm not adding mine to that. Forget it!

RWD and an LSD makes a suprisingly capable snow vehicle despite its 145 tyres. Because of its tyres. Skinnier the better. There's buttloads of snow here and it keeps piling up. See if you can guess the car parked in my neighbour's garden. It's parked in front of the caravan.

This was taken last Sunday... Haven't taken been out in the car since, as I had way too little grip on the icy roads. I'm using these "snow days" to do some little jobs on it.

I'm sure i've passed this car parked up around the wellington road/manchester road on my way to stockport area a few mornings on the way to work. Near enough identical, with the stickers etc - Same one?

This was the Tipo this morning Cleared the snow and went to drive to work. About 4 miles up the road is a windy steep hill over a mile long and I got halfway up and had better thoughts so turned round and headed back, yeah I know wuss! Got back home and decided to sort the Landy out. Rescued the battery and refitted, un hitched the trailer, put the seat back in and started her up, sitting a month or so and started straight away Off again Several cars littered the way to work but all in all an uneventful trip. On returning home, first thing was a phonecall from an elderly chap up the road who had got his car stuck. He had driven it earlier but he returned home and parked it outside his garage, at the bottom of a slope So I ate my tea and ventured back out. Landy. merc and MK2 Astra GSI, retros in the snow That job sorted we went out for a play ;D 10" forcast for tonight, no chance I reckon but it will be frozen so care in the morning

Need a bit of info as i'm not sure if i'm in the wrong here. Driving earlier I was climbing a long steep hill with cars parked on the opposite side of the road. A car came the other way going far too fast for the conditions and as I was following the tracks in the snow I didn't move over so they locked up and crashed into one of the parked cars. I didn't (couldn't) stop as if I had have done I wouldn't have been able to get going again and moving over would have had the same effect. Should I go to the house where the parked car was and let them know what happened or just leave it?

I'd say you've got nothing to worry about, the Highway code states it is your right of way as it is the opposite lane being obstructed by the parked cars, not yours. It's entirely the other drivers fault , if they couldn't stop they were traveling too quickly for the road conditions.
As a good samaritan you could tell the owner of the vehicle as you've done nothing wrong.
Anyway, what ever happened to common sense? Snowing or not if i'm coming down hill i will always let the car coming up go as like you say it's easier for me to get going again than it is for them.

I made the mistake of saying...."Watch me kids.....!" whilst gingerly trying to get on a tin tray at the top of a hill. Am now in agony...... Hero me...!

Due to the desperate need to finish a contract that has been dragging on for over three weeks I had to work yesterday! I wanted to be out playing in the snow, recovering all the stuck vehicles but alas I was tiling & grouting instead I did rescue one van (Vauxhall/Renault Movano thing?) that was stuck on a slope, blocking a set of lights. That's it....that's all the fun I managed to have. Same story today, want to be out playing but alas, carpet fitters due this morning (they couldn't make it yesterday) so I have to head back to work. Bliss!

-6 here. Beautiful.
Using a Landcruiser from work for driving duties as I don't want to risk the Saab.
Earlier, I offered to tow some lads wheelspinning in a truck (and not moving) up the hill. They just looked at each and said they weren't botered so I drove on.
