There is over half a metre of snow here in the central Highlands, it's getting a bit miserable now. The weight of the snow is bringing down branches, tree tops and even whole trees. In spite of all the snow though, all the main roads are well cleared and gritted so driving isn't much of a pain.

I wish that was the case here we may have only a couple of inches but still only the big roads are passable. All the lanes and B roads are a night mare. Oh and in wales the A roads don't go near anywhere that you may actually want to go to lol

We were staying in Normandy for a few days for new year. No snow at all until Friday night - we were a bit concerned as we were leaving Saturday morning, but hoped it'd ease off overnight. When we got up on Saturday morning, Clive the Five looked like this: Waited for a couple of hours for it to get better, during which another six inches of snow fell. Then we had to drive down this road for ten miles or so: ...which wasn't easy. MX-5s aren't really designed for snow. However, after all that drama, they'd gritted the autoroute and it was an easy drive back to the Eurotunnel. Lesson learned: don't ever arrive at the Eurotunnel terminal four hours early. There's f*ck all to do there. Oh, and beware the French weather - in rather less than 24 hours, the gite we were staying in turned from this... ...to this.

In spite of all the snow though, all the main roads are well cleared and gritted so driving isn't much of a pain. That's reassuring. We're heading up north in the 2CV to spend a week touring Scotland a week Thursday. Should certainly be interesting!

They look pretty vicious! At least they're keeping you moving. You might find that a modern winter tyre is just as good, once those wear out.

Went to bed last night with a light dusting... woke up this morning to 6+ inches and telegraph poles on the road falling over. No work for me today! If your waiting for your sky to be fixed in manchester... good luck! All jobs are canceled.

My latest issue is that it seems a Vauxhall Carlton bonnet is exactly the right angle so that when the snow builds up it slides off forwards and piles at the front of the car. I've now got a pile as high as the headlights to dig out before I can go to work.

Warrington was fine until this morning, then stupid snow has been coming down all day.
Got stuck on a hill coming home early in Heaton Mersey, and trouble with the car park. Then when I got back off the M6 in Warrington, even the A roads were like Soviet cart tracks.
Even in the town centre you can't drive. Walking is ok if you have wellies.

What on earth, how useless are drivers if they can't drive in 1" of snow?
