I've always been into older cars. The newest car I ever owned was a 10 year old Viva. My current "modern" car is my 23yr old Beemer and my daily driver is 55!!! I got into VW busses because I needed a cheap van for my band. (that was a few years ago). hohum

I've always like older cars and unloved stuff, but RR has heightened my awareness of that fact everything has potential.

I found my way here via Adam (of Locost and 205 Roland Garros guise) from locostbuilders.co.uk when he linked to this site on a forum post. I have been here a few years now and visit several times a week (almost daily). I saw him from a distance at RRG09 but didnt get a chance to thank him for pointing me to the best website in the world. So if you read this thanks Adam!

i was a barry boy!!!! my car even got featured on there site, all be it 50% actually liked it, it was a mk5 fiesta, with a bit of a kit, and some 17s, but i was young and disillusioned,
sold that for an s13 200sx, and became a J head, and then a biker, and a dubber, which i'm still into, just more the older stuff.... well anything decked on rims, and i'm still a biker, not really retro bikes, as they have drum brakes and even though they may look nice, i'd be scared it was gonna kill me

Always had older cars. Most modern thing i ever had was a 10yr old Omega. Never liked the modern stuff generally, but i guess i don't like the so-called 'progress' ! This site fits my mentality (or lack of) perfectly !

Well I got into classics as alot of people did through minis. This was 6 or 7 years ago. I had always been into modified cars and more importantly have always owned turbos. My first car was a 1990 renault 5 gt turbo at the age of 17 (£2472 fire and theft). I'm afraid some of the cars I was into at this age were shamefull when I look back at them now but I only drove tastefully modified stuff. No massive J style wanky bodykits or 24" tailpipes lexus lights etc. Heres a few pics of my second car, a 1986 phase 1 gt turbo (had 5 of these now including a van) Please don't laugh. This was featured in fastcar magazine in 2000 and I was even barry enough to display it at maxpower live in the same year. Oh the shame Now I'm happy as I feel at home whenever I'm on this forum or any of the other forums I frequent. I now also love looking at misguided chav chariots and its gives me a warm feeling inside to see how ive progressed from there to where I am today. Most importantly of all though, I still know that forced induction is the only way forward. Long live the turbo! and long live Retro Rides

I was an outcast. I've been into old cars for as long as I can rememeber and picked it up from my Dad who is also into his retro rides. I used to do all the classic car shows around the area, and when I got to and age tobe able to afford it, bought an old Jag XJ.
I then promptly went and annoyed everybody.
I got thrown out of two classic car clubs and it was suggested I not return to two branches of the enthusiast club; due to my liking for primer, wide wheels and wringing as much power out of the old thing as I could. The rivet counters really didn't (and still don't... I found that out a couple of months ago!) like me at all.
So I started looking for somewhere that would cope with me. After a bit of mooching around the internet, I found here - and found I was at the tamer end of things!
Regards
Ric

Same as I am now really. Was was originally a Street Machine/Custom Car reader when it had boobies in it, and slot mags were all the rage, then went "very classic" for a bit, then less so, and well, did a lot of Vauxhalls, always been into yanktanks, took me 10 years to get one after passing my test so made do with Mk3 Cortinas and the Victors and the like until then.
