Are you sure VIP, different interiors, areo kit and obviously wheels.
Is that not the previously sold car he refers to in the other listing. Prehaps it is an elaborate ploy to sell the same car twice. Good job I don't have 7K to chuck about!

Both of them? It's the same car you mong! Very nice though... You the mong LOL Check the pics.....different wheels, very different undebonnet & totally different interiors for a start. One has bonnet pins one doesn't etc....the more you look the more you see the differences. The one with black wheels was sold a while ago, the other one is still for sale. Two different cars. Both red, both rather yummy but both different. Much wantage going on! [EDIT] My slow typing is mong however and Mr Bognor beateth me on that score [EDIT]

Quite the mix and match of 30's and 31's in this thread. Still, both are pretty damned decent but my personal preference is the KHR30, an L-series Straight 6 Coupe, preferably a PNV (Paul Newman Version)

Just saw a red car, didn't pay that much attention.

Iron Mask FTW! They're no kpgc10 though. That's my dream Skyline, closely followed by the R32 GTR (a lot more realisitic lol)
When I was younger we emigrated to Oz and my uncle had a Nissan Pintara. They seem to share a lot in common with the R30/31. Has anyone thought of running one of those? A lot cheaper, and if you prefer the 4 door you're laughing lol.

Please can someone define for me the difference between the R30 and the R31 on the looks/styling front??
R32, R33, R34 etc....are all very different in looks and can't really be confused with each other (I'll take an R32 any day over a 33 or 34!) but the 30/31 look very much the same to me. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough?
Thanks....
BTW - I'm talking the 2dr generally rather than the cool 4dr version. If I rolled one it would have to be a 2 door simply because the proportions are mad with that HUUUGE rear boot/overhang affair going on and accentuated by the shorter roof of the coupe.

If I rolled one it would have to be a 2 door simply because the proportions are mad with that HUUUGE rear boot/overhang affair going on and accentuated by the shorter roof of the coupe. Perhaps I'm just far too obsessed but I see the differences as plainly as between the rest of the model variants. The R30 came in two different faces. The Pre-Facelift, which had large rectangular front lamps that go from the top of the bumper to the edge of the bonnet line, the grille is of differing styles depending on whether it's an RS, GT or specific market. The 3-slat grille of the RS DR30 is the best looking front, in my opinion. It is this one; Note the position of the fender indicators, that's also a give-away as to it being a Pre-Facelift R30 Also note the chrome trim that lines the windows, this fails to be present in the R31. The C-pillar is slightly more upright too. I don't believe the 31 rear side windows roll down either, they're fixed position with the black surround much like in the later R32 Coupe. The 30 has slightly softer lines compared with the 31 and I believe is a slightly smaller car though it is hard to tell that scale from individual pictures. When you get around to the rear of the car, on an R31, the tail-lamps and rear panel sit flush, the boot lid on an R30 enters into the space of the rear panel and comes down below the top edge of the rear lamps. Overall on the R30, the bumpers wrap around the corners of the car but then stop after several inches, both front and rear. On the 31 the bumpers wrap around and extend right to wheel arch itself. Though there are differences between pre & facelift R30 their bumpers are still more moulded and noticable as a bumper as opposed to the bumper on the 31 being more part of the car. As it were. You can see what I'm referring to in regards to the boot height and the bumper scenario in this shot of my friends KDR30; Of course, where people seem to get more confused is between the facelift R30 and the R31. The facelifted R30 (known as the Iron-Mask) though despite looking similar is still easily recognisable by comparison. Again I shall use my friends KDR30 as an example. The first thing you'll notice between this and the pre-facelift is that the headlamps are a sight thinner, the difference comes from the height of the lower body trim between the bumper and the lamps which now includes 2x vents that sit below where the bonnet now extends to. The lamps, despite being thinner are still very square. Most 31 coupes you'll encounter will have angled lamps and the grille is seperate from both the bonnet and the lower trim panel. You get a good idea of all the bumper, headlamp, grille, indicator, side window, etc etc, differences when you compare those already shown with this large clear picture from wikipedia of a 31 coupe. You'll also note the bonnet has two buldges instead of the single as the R30 does. Also the indicators sit high in the bumper of the 31 as opposed to the R30 where they sit below the bumper line and have a park lamp attached. The fender indicator on a 31 is behind the wheel arch whereas the 30 it is always infront, irrespective of whether facelift or pre. Does that help out any?

WOW! That's an amazing response and certainly answers my question (more than thoroughly!) Thank you.
I think its going to take me a bit of practice remembering those differences to start with. As you say, they are different but to me the 30 & 31 aren't as distinctly different from each other as the 32, 33 & 34.
What is quite surprising is how much the silver 30 at the top can be seen in the R32 - certainly a 'bloodline' that can be traced back in there.
Looking at them again now that you've described the differences, I think its the facelift 30's that strike me the most. So now I've gone from R32 love through R31 and back to R30.
Thank you again.

The 31 presents itself as a much more "modern" car in the way the bumpers wrap around. It's also much more sleek than the 30. I do prefer the 30 by a long margin though. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a 1983 KHR30 as that way I'll have 1963, 1973 & 1983... yes... I am that sad. Then I'll just need to find a late R32 (1993) as I've no fondness for the R33 and a 2003 V35 ...
Happy to help though man.
Indeed the 32 does take a few cues from the 30, I personally think the R35 also takes a few cues from the 110.

I'm a bit concerned that if I saw that car in the street, I might not be able to stop myself from trying to procreate with it. It's not that it's particularly good-looking, it's just... got something. Like Katy Perry. But Katy Perry IS good-looking.

This makes me sad. There was a 4 door R31 on the bay a while back for around £400. Didn't buy it because of distance and it needed a little bit of work in a few areas that could have been costly.

R31s are very cool. Extremely common and cheap down under as they were locally built/assembled here, in 4-door sedan and wagon form only. Often seen here in use as cheap hoon cars for P-plater school kids who can't afford the R34 GTR of their dreams yet. Hence they are often badly modified and thrashed/destroyed, but when done right they can be very cool. For those who asked, the original Pintara was an Australia-only version of the R31 with different front and rear lights/grille and a CA20E 4-cylinder engine. This was then replaced by a locally-manufactured version of the FWD Nissan U12 Bluebird, confusingly also named the Pintara despite having no shared architecture other than the carry-over of the CA20E for the base models.

I don't know much about R30/31 Skylines. But it was watching Glenn Seton drive a Skyline that has made me a lifelong fan of the man. They stayed out on slicks, expecting the rain to clear within a lap or two. It didn't. And it made for some of the most memorable race-cam footage. A few laps after this the rain came down so hard the ARDC was going to red-flag the race it because it was too wet to see.
