As a little aside, have you lot seen the yank company running running cars with compressed air? Not like a compressed air motor, a normal engine with normal fuelling, but instead of drawing in atmosphere, they feed air in from scuba tanks - show me the blower or turbo that can put that amount of air in right through the Rev band! Obviously there are massive limitations, but they reckon if the internals and block are strong enough, then your power is only limited by the airflow and injector size (I know, that sounds slightly obvious). For a sprint car it sounds pretty interesting! Tangent over, as you were Oh ffs .... Don't give him any more ideas ......... We'll be waiting even longer for this epic beast to awaken .........

So, as I have an air system on board the car now, I' was able to solve another one of my issues, the rear engine clutch will now be air opperated.

My thoughts too , surely there's a way of hydraulically linking the two together

My thoughts too , surely there's a way of hydraulically linking the two together Which would be the same as a braking system - use a tandem cylinder or a bias set up - but space appears to be at a premium to connect it up. To find space the way to go would be to use the standard single master and a slave to push on a second tandem cylinder mounted in a area with more space that then ran to the front and rear slaves. They would also both remain self adjusting - I think. Too early for thinking and no doubt with as long as this has been going on Claymore has already thought of every other hydraulic option. If not I a a dual master (from a Fiesta I think) here if he want to try one.

Clutch slave with the capacity to shift enough fluid to operate two slaves would be a good start . Something around 1" bore with 1/4 outlet into a tee then on to the slaves as your not building pressure just transferring fluid against some resistance from the diaphragm , they really need to be balanced as I had all major of grief with my twin bike engine setup that used cables

How progressive is the air clutch? I have a picture in my head of it being like a gas ram you see on robot wars!!

It goes on like a switch but releases nice and gently as I have an adjustable restrictor on the exhaust port.

Well, this is the final design of the clutch, I've had a quick test with an airline trailing back into the workshop and it seems to work, I would say it feels a bit like a paddle clutch.

Tank in and air pipework tidied up a bit. And just turned the car around with both engines running, which obviously involved forward and reverse gears, and I suppose I would have to call it a success, as I couldn't tell that the car was in awd

All I can picture is you engaging one end in 1st and the other end in reverse and doing very very tight donuts like a tank.
