I used to collect numberplates at one point in my life. Nailed them up on the rafters of my rather large garage, and anywhere else in there that I could find space for them. Does anyone collect numberplates on here ? I used to know of a German guy in South Africa who collected them. I now have a load of plates to get rid of...... Used to look a bit like this in there, and more added after pic taken.

I don't collect them, but I'm always on the lookout for stuff to pin up in the new garage/workshop. Numberplates would just be one of them (That means I'll have a couple if no-one collects them!)

Grizz, - I'll take some. INadvertnetly started a small collection by buying curse word cars from all over Europe on different jobs and killing 'em.
TYP19 - I'll put out a shout to a contractor mate of mine down there. See what he can steal arrange.

In fact, any spare old metals ones might well find their way into some future A52 sculptures (I know I can't weld them due to being ally, but bending to shape & rivets FTW!)

Have taken the boxes of plates down from the loft.... at risk to life and limb, feck me , they are heavy. Anyway, they are all in the lounge on the floor now. Will sort through them in the next week or so.
Bruce, you will have to collect, or I can send with PFChris when he makes contact about that generator, maybe he can take them to Bristol the next time he is up that way. They are a bit heavy for posting.

Grizz,
If you have any old style SA plates, particularly Transvaal ones, I'd be interested.
Ideally Jo'burg (TJ) or Randburg (TRG) as that's where I lived when I was a kid. Wish I knew what happened to the TRG plates that came off my Mom's 105E that we brought back with us!

Hi Richie, I am keeping about 1/3 of the plates I have in my collection, which exceeded 500 Some of those are old style and I have a TJ plate, but it is staying in the collection, sorry. I also have some old "R" plates, and a couple of "M" plates. which will stay with me. The only way to get old Trannsvaal, Joburg plates is to contact people who have scrap yards, or even to go on www.moby302.co.za and contacting sellers of cars to offer to buy plates off some of the cars advertised there. Further to that, a few guys have asked, and I am happy for people to come over for a cuppa tea, biccies, and a chat, and then to head off with some plates .
