These are free on VZi, but I am more interested in just knowing what the bottom left hubcap is from.... I guess a VW, however, look at the logo. Who made these and when ? Do they still get made ?

My guess is that cap has nothing to do with VW at all.

Is that from the X-Men VW Samba they used for trips away from the school?? ;D I'd reckon on an aftermarket hubcap

is it just my eyes or does the shape of the hubcap not quite dome the same way as the vw ones? cant immagine it being aftermarket either... why would anyone buy something that looks allmost identical to the poverty spec ones you allready have, yet somehow less desriptive of the car they are fitted to? makes no sence...... maybe russian? looks very eastern bloc

Me thinky Russian too comrade Grizz, for no other reason than it's a bit German but not quite the genuine article.

Kinda half looks like it might have just missed a pressing? Things "almost" line up on the logo.
Probably more likely a knockoff cap from the early 80s or something tho

I'm realy realy doubting its a pattern one... look at one of the triangles... its got the egde deliberatly flatenned.. yet the outside edge lines up with the rest of the circle/emblem.... its a badge for somthing... but what is the question

Knowing how VW are/have been with copyright, I'd say it's aftermarket, for VWs, from a manufacturer that wasn't allowed to use the VW logo. I'm sure I've seen other hubcaps that have a 'logo' reminiscent of the VW one but not the same for the same reason

its just a cheap sh!te repro VW hubcap. VWoA got a bit power crazy a few years ago and started sue-ing ANYONE who dared to use the VW logo for any purpose- even enthusiasts who used them on their resto blogs, etc. theres 3 or 4 variations, all with different bits of the logo missing/changed, ive got a few kicking round at my grandparents somewhere. its simply a way around getting your ass sued for big dorra if you get caught using their logo unlicensed.

What they said, indeed. its a badge for somthing... No, it's not. It's a pattern cap for a VW - end of. I can't remember where they came from, but I remember lots of them knocking about the VW shops and shows back in the '80s. This is long before VWoA got all ar$ey as well...

OK, Well, I like them for the cheekyness, and would hang one from my garage wall just for my personal satisfaction.

oops! edit more like, the pic has finally appeared, my flaptp was being slow! Oh the crude "x effect" look like mules, ive seen several x-types used in sneaky shots on all manner of vw products, pre-production shots of golfs etc in testing situations, usually by none other than Hans Lehmann. id have them on my garage wall for sure, the freer the better! do it Grizz
