I got the exhaust hung this morning. When John eventually showed the real work started. We filled the engine up with oil, back filled the oil pump and turned it over on the starter. The dodgy oil preasure gauge pipe was blocked, so we're not sure how much preasure we got but it was enough to switch the oil preasure light signal. I made a traveller head shield. Then we dropped the engine in And made a start on plumbing it in. It's going to be a little crowded under there when the intercooler is piped in and the oil catch tank is mounted.

While John's been busy getting curse word for free at the Good Food show, I've been slaving away in the garage. Got the CPS fitted. Fitted the boost controller. Kept it inside the engine bay to try and stop us winding the boost up all the time. And I've done some plumbing. I didn't allow for the length of the alloy bends when I measured up for the interfooler hoses, so I've got loads of hose and an elbow spare and a 45 degree silicone elbow on order. All being well it should be running soon

We managed to get all the little jobs done tonight. New bolts welded into the exhaust clamp ( 20 minutes at 200 degrees in the oven for a preheat, just don't tell the wife ;-)) Welded spring carriers onto the manifold (bent nails). cut it down to size and got the entire zaust fitted properly. We now have a Chav Cannon poking out the back. Cable tied the pot joint boots, connected the gear linkage and checked the gears (they all work and we've had the box in bits!!) Fitted the dizzy properly, wired in the ignition, hooked up the battery and tested for spark. All good. Put some fresh fuel in and checked the carb didn't leak - it didn't Crossed fingers and turned the key. It turns over a treat, gets a spark at roughly the right spot, but it won't bloody start Kept trying for a little while, got a back fire and some smoke from the ignition wiring. Then the starter started running continually. So we threw the towel in. It will run at the weekend!!!

The colling system is plumbed up and wired in. With a good few turns on the mixture screw it runs nicely. We've put a new relay in for the starter, so now we have control of when the starter runs Some of the interior is back in and we've made a start butchering the dash for the gauges. Starting to look like a propper engine bay again Feels like we're nearly there now.

I don't know about nice, but it should be fast! ;D
We did a quick load test with it on axle stands the other night. Made 0.6bar (8.6 PSi) of boost. With plenty more to come when the clutch is working....

Had a custom braided hose made up for the clutch last week. We trimmed 7mm of the master cylinder's banjo bolt and fitted it. With some fluid through it and a lot of adjustment the clutch works and it moves under it's own power again. It's not good enough to drive yet, so we need to look into longer/adjustable rods for the slave cylinder to clutch arm.
