Hi I'm Andy and I co-own a metro van with a friend (along with a mini). It started of like this, on a 200 mile tow home from sunny London: Inevitably there was rust... It took me about 3 months to get welded up and ready for a MOT, which it passed ;D The orginal interior was curse word, so we stuck in some later GTi seats and door cards. Then we took the standard 998 out and put in a 1275 with a well ported head and an MG Turbo Bodykit. 78BHP at the flywheel. With it on the road, we took it on a 2200 mile banger rally round europe. Paris, Munich, Prague and Amsterdamn in 4 days. Had to swap the radiator in France as it was cooking itself, then had a blow out on the autoban in Germany at 100MPH . Won the prise for best car and raised £770 for a local childrens hospice. We also took it on a drag weekend at Avon park. It's best time was 17.9, so not too shabby. Unfortunatly that trashed the engine mounts and didn't do the diff any favours. So the engine came out for a rebuild. While we where at it, we decided to add a little more power.... By our reckonings, 14lb of boost should give us about 140-150BHP and probably the fastest Metro Van in the world ;D All being well the engine will be finished and fitted this weekend. We aim to have it back on the road after christmas. What do you think??

dude looks awesome with all its stickers... personally i'd leave it as a standard BT from outside (Yellow with proper BT logos on side) and with 130bhp on tap, it'll be a proper sleeper, looks good with the MG/GTI add on's well done in saving this one *thumbs up*

Hi, I'm its Co-owner. The stickers have been pulled now. Hopefully we should get some more pics up soon. And eventually a dyno print out.

Most of the stickers are of again - they are too heavy lol
The turbo bodykit will be lost at some point in favour of something more rare and retro. We had talked about restoring it at some point and putting BT stickers on it, but we both need to finish our mini's before that happens.

My mini is sat quietly rotting away waiting for me to find time to finish the shell...

Our's has had the hydrogas cans at the back individualised and a MG Turbo rear anti rollbar fitted. It goes round bends fairly well now ;D

Loving this, though, less stickers for me, good for the rally, furry chuff, but its too cool for stickers. Well done with resto and great mods you guys mean business. All one colour, or old skool mis matched panels FTW?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Thanks. ;D
The black bonnet was killed when the tyre blew out (hense the gaffer tape holding it down in the autobahn pics) so it now has a green bonnet and grille fitted (or it will do once the engine is in). I also have a white tickford turbo body kit sat in my cellar waiting to go on ;D

The intercooler is from an MR2 and the radiator is from a MPi mini. I bought the intercooler based on rough measurements, turned out to be mm perfect.
The last few bits have arrived today, so all being well the engine will be fully assembled fitted and plumbed in over the weekend ;D
Just need to fab a heat shield for the turbo and carb and bolt on the last few bits and bobs.

The engine is just about ready to go in ;D It just needs the valve clearances setting, actuator adjusting, a turbo heat shield fabricating and filling with oil. I ended up fitting the water heated/cooled oil filter housing as the starter and dizzy had clearance issues with the normal one.
