I drive a company car which is obviously new, and with all the rain we are having, i have been aiming at every puddle trying to make the biggest splash i possibly can. I also do this in SWMBO's Xtrail, cos it can. Does anyone else do this, or am i peculiar in my wet weather driving habits? BTW, i once sank a mazda 323 in a very large puddle, but that hasn't put me off! Have some car/water/splash pictures for the trouble you have gone to putting up with my inane ramblings! Horace and my favourite...

I'll admit to it. haha, it's good fun. Only at low not so aquaplaney speeds, but in lanes and around town its got to be done . A few nights ago me and a friend managed to get his 406 in a flood up to over the top of the alloys before realising it was probably not worth trying to get through! haha. We were going back down a road that wasn't flooded at all about 30 minutes earlier so assumed it'd be quite shallow only to find we were quite wrong!

A few years ago driving my old k10 micra, I was driving in torrential rain on the a12 late at night, couldn't see very far in front of me so kept my speed down. Pulled off the road on to a slip road at the bottom of the slip road was a lake! It didnt look to deep so i didn't slow down to much. I plunged into it at 30mph with a tidal wave coming over the bonnet The car kept running some how but was misfiring badly, so i kept going and eventually made it home. The air filter was soaked and half a mug of water was in the dizzy cap ;D Ever since then i've been a bit more cautious about puddles ;D

I avoid them in the Jag, just in case. :S
However in the Rangey i happened to come flying round a corner a couple of months ago and discovered that a pipe had burst and the whole road was covered in about 3 inches of water for 20 yards or so, I ploughed through it about 40mph which blanked out the screen completely for a second (happens a lot in a 4x4 cos they are so high they don't run over their bow wave and flatten it) i was fine, got the wipers on, but my mate who was in the back seat started laughing his head off, apparently the guy going the other way in the BMW mini had his drivers window open and was dowsed in brown water.
Not funny if your him i guess, but it was an accident and i cant help grinning at the expletives that must have come out of him and i did hurt me back trying to wash all the brown stuff off the roof of the RR.

My friend did it in a disco and the water comming off one of the front wheels found its way into the intake, luckilly it sucked it up slow enough for him to dip the clutch but it did stop the engine. We did the usual removing of the glow plugs and wound it over, then drove it home without the intercooler connected (which he emptied in the morning and reconected)
Could obviously have been a lot worse.

I do it in the Toledo but i have an alterior motive in certain spots, the more i splash off the highway the less flooding calls i have to go out to lol well that only really works on one road that has a grass verge one side of the road ;D

I do this in my Mondeo because I don't care much about the car and it's bombproof, I'm the inconsiderate b*stard who will send a tidal wave over your car as you're coming the other way for fun haha

I once drove the Panda through a flooded road and it got so deep that the water found its way onto the parcel shelf (the way behind me was much worse, so i had no choice).

Only chance the golf has got of a good clean underneath + is fun so all round win apart from the rusty arches, ain't helping them much, but meh. Mates dad got sacked from London transport for splashing a fella in a big puddle round Trafalgar sq. Did have to swerve to get him so guess the sack was fair enough and safer for all as he was half blind anyways.

Used to do it all the time in my L200. It was great fun!
Anyone know where to find Mystery Machines post about his Superhero activities during the floods? That was a great read!

Yeah, I do it, it's lots of childish fun. Whether I be in the Jeep, the Chevy or the Merc, they all get it! As a bonus, my daughter loves it and is always egging me on

One of the intakes on the Porker is very low. Ive heard stories of water getting into here and then down into the cylinder. Come the compression and "BANG" split cylinder head.
I avoid puddles when i can.
