Hi all, same car as my previous build thread but different engine. It's all Froggys (forum member) fault for inviting me to the PPC photo shoot where I got to see and hear a couple of bike engined Kittens. That combined with a terminal problem with my turbo 850 engine have steered me towards bike power. So, early days but my engine bay is now like this: And this is sitting in front of the car waiting to go in: It's a 1999 Yamaha R1 engine. 60kg and 150 bhp which should do the job nicely. It came from a crashed kitcar so is car ready and came with loom, clocks, prop adaptor etc etc. Am I worried that the engine's only done 13,000 miles and killed both vehicles it's been in? Nah, it'll be fine..

Looks like thats going to be fun whats the power to weight going to be? With polycarbonate rear windows and the (slightly) lighter engine and box I should get it below 500kg so 300+ per tonne? Engine trial fitted last night, no chassis cutting required but passenger footwell will need cutting away.

Are you using the stock airbox? Apparantley bike engines lose a shed load of power if you change it/run without.

R1 airbox ftw, it's too tall for sevens but it might fit under a bulge in the kitten bonnet?

Matt You're right that it causes loads of hassle to use other filters, dynojet kits etc. Looks like the strandard airbox will fit turned upside down as the previous guy had it in his MK Indy. Need to start on the engine mounts next and then order a propshaft. I'll be using a special one from Bailey Morris www.baileymorris.co.uk/ which has a rubber sleeve in it to help the bike gearbox and hopefully my weedy rear axle too.

Bookmarked. Watching this with interest, I've got two Kittens sat in my lockup waiting for me to start work on them...

But now you'll have a turbo going to waste... Why not bolt it on to the R1, just for giggles? ;D ;D

But now you'll have a turbo going to waste... Why not bolt it on to the R1, just for giggles? ;D ;D Turbo self destructed and I just couldn't face another £400 for a new one, especialy as I didn't understand why it happened, which is why I've gone this route instead. It wasn't quick enough as it was anyway even with the boost up.
