I came very close to bidding on a manifold and carb on Ebay last week. Had to walk away as i'm spending far to much on it at the moment when i should be decorating. Be good to see the caps on, brackets will need to be good unless you want to be looking for hubcaps in hedges. ;D

Wish I'd read this earlier.
I have a workshop full of viva spares including a set of headlights and a radiator.
If you need any interior trim bits let me know.
I've got some nice consoles that sit on the tunnel around the gear lever.
Also got bumpers, doors, boot, bonnet, slot mags, heater switches, cables, glass, seats, 4 headlight grille, rear lights, indicators. Steering columns, stalks etc etc.
Loads of stuff.
Not too much 1256 engien stuff but got 2.3 stuff in abundance. 4 speed box with overdrive anyone?
Don't get to my workshop often but if viva folk out there need things let me know. Its near Northampton but I'm near Eastbourne.
Cheers.
Jody.

Teeny weeny update time Ive been mostly just using the car for the last few weeks and it aint broke down yet ;D the carb issues are starting to bug me and my clutch aint enjoying 3/4 throttle starts so thats on the list of "Must Do's" after trying to get another years MOT which hopefully will happen next week. Today i fitted the headlamps i picked up whilst on my jaunt with Si to pick up his viva estate so i now have working headlamps that actually focus properly ;D Had a small viva meet in my cul-de-sac also when Craig and black8driver,www.sexy-horse.com monkey fondler doctor toucher Si turned up at the same time! Craig took me for a little spin in his 5-speed converted coupe and Si dropped off a weber book for me to study ....cheers chap Steve

And the verdict is . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . PASSED ;D But not without problems. Took the car to a mate of mine in Bath yesterday, got it up on the ramp and had a nosey, id managed to get a bit of welding done at the last A52 playday so there was nothing obvious that could fail(well, nothing he could actually see ; ;D) but he did pick up on my steering coupling which i changed not long ago.......id forgot to put some nylock nuts on it so he failed that but said that if i could sort them while i was there he would issue a pass same day. Ok then, i can live with that so got some nuts and changed them........then he did the brake test and disaster struck..........master cyl went pop and lost the front circuit me not happy. Obviously that was a major fail which also meant i couldnt take the car home(10miles away) so left the car there in the hope i could obtain another master cyl the next day. This morning i went to the one place local i knew had a couple of viva's and found one, i was expecting to be ripped off for it..............£5 please ;D BARGAIN! Went back to Bath, changed the cyl then got a mate to pop down and help me bleed it out which took forever and other mate re-tested it this afternoon. Long winded story i know......but its been a bit stressful The car is back in my nice comfy garage and will be staying there for the forseeable future until i have some work, the tax runs out end of the month Steve

I had a feeling the master cylinder on that Viva would be just as bad where it's been sat so long. Glad it all worked out though. Hope you find work soon and get to the rolling road day. I'm interested to see who's got the most horses in the slow lane.

Done some more tinkering with the Weber this week and can now report ive got the jetting 99.8% correct having now done a couple of jet changes i don't have the nasty hick up anymore and its pulling hard from idle..........WIN! As with all my previous projects it seems i'll spend ages trying to get one engine running just right only to start planning to change it straight after there are now plans in the pipeline for something much bigger to satisfy a craving of mine so the little 1256 engine will be up for sale sometime after summer, I'm deff gonna need the money for what i have planned ;D Steve

Well doen on the MOT...
I might have to follow the 40 weber on mine soon, as i fear the twin choke downdraft might be too tall for the car !

Thanks Paul I see now that your space issues are no longer an issue so good luck all go's well when you turn the key. And Craig...............you aint gettin' it chap! ;D I spent today over A52 as Bruce and Rich were there messing about and I was at a loose end so went over to join in. I picked up Si (B8D) along the way as he needed to pick some bits up and his Viva estate aint too healthy at the mo. While we were there, Si spotted some wheels in Bruce's vast stocks that he liked and my car became the test subject for them.................BEHOLD Dish ;D And here is a slightly less dished variation So then...........Si wants them but we had to try a few others out.........amongst the various modern rims i prefered these Isuzu Piazza rims would need some spacers to come out flush with the arch but i would deff roll a set for the winter Sunday 4th is the 3RD RR southwest rolling road day and now due to a dive into my overdraught i have another 6mths tax so will be attending, I went over the motor yesterday preping it for the day, tappets set and points adjusted and thats about it! This little engine really is a quality lump for those who want a low-maintance engine........all i do is check the oil every couple of days ;D Steve

Today was rolling road day.........I was feeling confident..........I felt a winner in the small-engine challenge.................................was I f**k! My lovely, cared for 1256 made 51.6BHP with 66ftlbs of torque it would appear that it aint as well tuned as I thought! Not to worry, I know there is more in that engine........just need to dig around for it ;D All in all, it was a fun day out and I really enjoyed the banter and the noise. Tim(Brat-Man) has offered an engine to me which may make its way into the car, just got to go and take some measurements off it first but its deff a front runner...............not letting the cat outta the bag yet but all I shall say is that it should make over 4x the power of the 1256 Steve

Most power gains (if that is your goal over everything else) is not gained wholly from a big carb, but from a better exhaust flow, in the head and exhaust manifold.

Paul - I only had one goal with that little engine............to have more power than Craig's ;D but he won that battle, I'm not that fussed mate cos that was with a VERY out of tune weber(according to the AFR readings) if i had put the stromberg back on it would have matched or beaten him Anyway, today saw the arrival of the replacement for the little 1256 engine&box, until ive got the thing in the engine bay I'm not gonna reveal much......cos it may all go wrong and i may have to abort the swap so on that basis i shall give you all a small taster and that will be all.................................. Ive got to sort out an engine crane and my mates welder, so i wont begin mocking up until sometime next week........I'm looking forward to it Big thanks to Si (B8D) for helping me to transport it home, you sir are a legend! More later Steve
