Hello people nice to be here stumbled on the site through pug306 website as I'm buying a 306, my real fetish though is classic/retro motors, I'm a 19 y/o student from the East Midlands and currently drive a 1978 Triumph Spitfire which I've been restoring for just under a year, brought it for £150 and if anyone's interested selling it for around the £3900 mark: img279.imageshack.us/img279/700/spit19lk.pngimg279.imageshack.us/img279/691/spit24xj.pngI commute a bit so getting a 1.9 306 DTurbo for my practical needs, but now the spitfire's going I need another project, any recommendations? Also is there anyone around Nottingham ends I'd love to meet up with some similar minded peeps out there, anyway you'll be hearing from me no doubt so until then...

Let me be the first to welcome you to the asylum... ;D

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Hello welcome to the magical place that is retro rides, a friend of mine managed to convince his girlfriend to get a spitfire. He also tried to convince me that it had a 1500cc mini engine, i assured him that that wasnt the case, otherwise every mini owner in the country would have one!

I wish all my mates were as great as yours. Henceforth known as 'marmite' Oh and Tee - welcome! Selling a Spit to fund a euro diseasel chugga sounds like madness to me but it's your call. Spit does look nice though. Would I be committing too much of a heainous crime to suggest a TD Spitfire??

Welcome. Spitfire, looks like a neat one.
NickB is not far off, with that kinda budget, why not get the retro car you want, then pop a zetec in or similar? I understand the modern(ish) daily driver car urge After a bunch of bangers, i was looking for a 306 n got a sierra sapph for half the budget instead!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Hi again thanks for the welcome and I'm glad you like the spit, the list of what I've done to it is pretty huge but main one's include the alloys, gt6 bonnet with the bulge in the middle, twin exhausts, leather interior and full re-spray in lexus metallic blue, I'm officially advertising it in a few months but I'm still after another classic/retro ride to replace it, I'm actually going to see a polo mk4 in a few days but I'm also starting to like the looks of the early polo's with the deep dish 15's and very low, I'll let you know how I get on....

early polos?
Can we say "Mk2 Breadvan in faded mars red, 15" G60 steels in black primer, tuckaway exhaust, G40 motor with pitstop supercharger mods, G60 intercooler, huge throttle body, decat, boost return bypass, twin induction kits, 1400cc conversion, rear bumper held on with gaffer tape, one door the wrong colour".
maybe that's just me but it'd rock in a really hard way. 170bhp+ in a scrapyard-dodger.

Welcome to the site, that Spitfire's pretty cool, the leather interior and the colour look good in the photos.
