Been on holiday in Turkey for the last week, which was nice all inclusive break eating and sun bathing................... Well I also got some opportunity to do some car spotting too To start there is a lot of modern stuff mainly Renaults and Fiats, Clio saloons and Fiat Albea (which is like a Punto saloon). As for old stuff there is a fair amount of obviously old stuff, but also it seems Renault either still make or recently stop making the Renault 9 with facelift lights and bumpers looks quite good IMO. There is also a lot of Tofas, which is a Turkish car manufacture part owned by Fiat, which churn out 70's Fiat with slightly newer engines and cosmetic changes. The most common is the Sahin or Dogan, which is based on the Fiat 131. Although there were also some Tofas Murat which are based on 124/Lada. They do seem to like modifying them too, lots of them had tinted windows, wheels and lowered. I'm guessing the lowered ones were on cut springs, as some were proper hard slammed (especially for some of the Turkish rural roads lol) Thankfully there was a good quality of old Fords and some Opels too too ;D although there were no Sierras lots of late Cortinas and mk1 Granadas. Anyway on with the pics, I apologise for the quality a fair few were taken while moving Got a lot of love for R12's very cool! Like these wheels I loved this, was really patina smashed spot lights and red shag pile dash! Whats this pickup? saw quite a few of them looks eastern bloc, quite cool imo. Abandonded 126 Nice modified Dogan Looks American, but what is it? R12 estate WANT!

Nice one Robin, some interesting stuff there! Out of interest, what vehicle was you travelling in? I saw the weird shadow in this pic and am picturing some elaborate rickshaw type affair... ;D (or maybe a jeep...) Also, this looks really really good. Simple yet effective...

A mate owns land in Turkey which he is planning on one day building a house He has told me there are restrictions on imports of cars. He's in his 70's so is allowed to take one vehicle with him but his daughter and familly, who intend moving out there with him, aren't. They bought a LWB / Hi Top van to move all their belongings and were told they would have to remove it from Turkish soil within a certain time period otherwise a massive fine. Seems your passport or whatever is noted that you have bought a vehicle into the country. There is an island nearby which is, I think, Greek and is full of abandonded British registered vans - with keys still in ignition Paul H

Not everything was that clean though: There were about ten cars stacked up behind an abandoned garage on Gozo, really interesting place to visit.
