Couldn't really ask for more than that from a car, could you I like the E34s, there's something very solid about them. Shame the lower end ones don't have as much presence as the top ones but again, not difficult to get them looking sharp and interesting. Plenty of bits to fettle the performance and appearance. I had a quick drive in a 518i (yes, 1.8!) yesterday, was quite impressed. Gearing's quite low so around town it's got a little bit of get up and go and feels quite torquey, but it'd be a bit of a chore doing fast motorway work endlessly and I don't think the low-inertia 1.8 would last indefinitely doing hard motorway work. Big car to haul along The six pots are definitely the way to go, though

Stunning car Lewis! I bet that's a lot of fun. I have a E34 520i estate (M50 24v) on multipoint LPG that I might be tempted to sell. The guy I bought it off did a number on me (and I didn't investigate enough) and I've swapped the complete front suspension off a donor car due to blown shocks, worn discs and worn bushes. I'm replacing the water pump, thermostat, fan belt, heater pump and replacing the bent alloys with standard BMW BBS amongst other things. Apart from that the car is in great condition! If you're interested then drop me a PM (the car is pictured without the proper BBS). img.photobucket.com/albums/v55/robjobuk/CARS/S8004559.jpg

That's a really nice looking example (colour that's one of my favorites too, don't know why). Sounds like it's had everything that needs done, done too! Always intrigued by the LPG option on these too....not that the 520/525 are that bad on fuel anyway - but it'd be nice to be able to open the taps more often and not worry about it so much...

Tim & Lew, there are also a wide variety of body upgrades for the E34, should you so desire:
