Bovvered, innit.
My old mk2 coupe had a mk3 gt multi point engine, same as yours but red and 40mm, and without wheels. Couldnt shift it for 600.
I reckon you´ll struggle to get 4-500.
Best bet would be to take the wheels, suspension, seats etc out, and sell them seperatley.
Isnt your bolloxed anyway from you ragging it too much? Is that why you want to sell it?

Best to break it as mentioned, £150 for the wheels, £50 for the springs etc...
Then get what you can for the shell, but unless it's mint I doubt anybody will give you sensible money in todays market. Bad time of year to sell. The market simply sucks if you are trying to sell.

As always I suppose we all want as much as we can for our own vehciles but if buying we want price down ... ...Human nature understandably. In todays vehicle climate if anything is over 6 years old it seems to be 'cheap' in comparison (Rolls Royce, Ferrari, etc. excluded) due to horrific depreciation of vehicles at present. This in turn has affected even the classic market. Plus the fact that your average person just wants to know 'how much a month I gotta pay for my new vehicle' mentality (I am generalising here, but you understand my point ). And this is how modern traders/franchise's are geared too.... ...Not how much car is but how much car will cost 'Sir' a month on the 'never, never' ... So my advice to anyone is if your old/interesting vehicile is in good, reliable and useable condition then KEEP IT & ENJOY IT! As at present you will not get what it is really worth.

I seem to think that you might have a problem with me? And no the car has not been ragged i have looked after, yea once a month i will rag her a little to give her a little clean out, but you have to bear in mind that she is only a 1.3 on 4 speed box! And well i might just put a sign on car a for sale on, and i would say that i would get more then 150.00 quid for the wheels, have been offered more then that when at a show! Thank you for your help and advice

keep the polo... i would say its worth 700 quid ish.. with back seats and fronts that recline.. and on a different set of wheels.. your average buyer wont be wanting a 70mm slammed polo on rooode white alloys.. keep the polo, live the dream!! (sorry got a polo fetish!)

cars are worth what someone will pay.... i've had trouble selling cars for a quarter of what 'they're worth' (like my Mk2 Goof Driver - immaculate - new clutch 'n' MoT - struggled to get £100 for) yet i've had someone make what they think is a daft offer andi've snached their hand off (audi quattro 20v - needed clutch, tuning and bodywork - already flogged the stereo and only paid £250 for it - someone offered me £550 for a laugh. i laughed indeed all the way to the bank)
to be honest i'd have thought £300 or so would be lucky for that, as a 'rally slag' it only appeals to a few people and they're the ones that can make their own 'slag' by buying a £50 MoT failure, ripping out the interior, welding it up and getting a pass on it. i'd be tempted to just use it and enjoy it for what it is.

I think looking through the prices quoted on here it really goes to show just how turbulant and random the 2nd hand market is at the moment.
