Rust, basically. The engines are very good. Handbrake cables are a bit of a pain on them too. The roof on the T-Bar will probably leak a bit, but thats normal. It took ages to sell mine on here and only got £350 for it with a long tax and Mot. Very underrated cars. Really miss my old one and still wonder where it is now as I cant remember who bought it off me on here

How the hell did I miss this thread? Mine: Had all 3 of the 'lovely ones' that ghost posted as my wallpaper pic at one time or another, the blue one's on there at the moment.

It's a shame there's not many of these about and they rot so badly. For a cheap car they can be so achingly beautiful, as proved by some of the stunners in this thread. Another nice one

I was very tempted by that one, absolute bargain too. But I didn't have enough no claims to insure the damn thing. I'm picking up a navy blue MK1 in the week anyway, can't wait to get in on the drive and start playing with it.

Have a couple of pics of my old Mk1a The suspension was tired on that, needed new shocks/bushes throughout, as a result handled terribly - floaty, erratic, inspired no confidence whatsoever. I'd love to have a go in one that's properly set up. And yes, they can ROT!
