Well its been long enough since I last updated this thread. Over the last few weeks I have made quite a lot of progress.
I had the windscreen out to sorted the rot in either corner, turned out alot worse than I first thought
made a card board template
then welded it up and filled it
then I painted it and refitted the windscreen, to my surprise the windscreen flew in only took about 10minutes to fit.
Now the windscreen is done and back in I made a start on the arches. Both fronts and back need doing, but I got away with just doing the bottom corner of the passengers side and the cab step
the cab steps have been bodged before so I chopped the lot out ,
Some times I get abit carried away and stuck in to work and forget to take photos so ive only got a finished photo lol
Next on to the drivers side arch, there was basically nothing left of this side it had been filled full of filler, even over the fuel filler cap lol
So once again I brought out my £10 trust cutting tool and got rid of the curse word! and left me with this big hole!
once again I'm missing the photo of finished article but I can a sure you its top notch, well it will be after a finger of seam sealer
I ran in to abit of a problem doing the drivers arch, it turned out the arch was to short and didnt fit at all it was a bloody country mile off if I'm been honest. So I had to weld it short, luckly the cab step I bought had a bottom corner on.
Right on with the cab step now witch brings me up today. I started off with a rough line around the rust cut that out then test fitted the step in, the photo I took turned out to be just a blank for some reason. Then I teased the new step in with a bit of tickling with the grinder and smashing of hammers and viola
one step in kind of!
next was to tackle the end of the arch as it didnt fit at all, I started off buy cutting the rest of the cab step panel and then marked out on the arch for chopping.
then welded new bit in
This is the end result, all welds ground flat and its looking a beut
If the weather holds out I'm hoping to get the rear arches and sill done in the next few weekends then its on to body filler work and paint
I must say a big thanks to dave (cobblers) for kicking my out of my house and making me do some work in the cold and also giving me a hand!! I hate working in the rain
unfortunately my workshop isnt big enough for the van
thanks for looking Jon
