Radiused rear arches will look great!!!     Matt They will need to be bigger because the Reliant rear axle is wider than an A35 rear axle, so the arches will be somewhere on the middle of the tires, width wise, and that won't work because you must consider suspension travel, and the channel alone. Plus, the wheels need to have an arch covering them the entire width of the rear tires (IVA), so I will need to make some of those too. I have never done it before though, so I'll see how that goes. |

Hmm, I know what you mean, but I think I would prefer an even channel. That mean, 'snapped chassis look' looks good on some hotrods like Model T coupes, but I think it would complicate things. Thanks for the suggestion though.

cant you just chop the centre few inches out of the B pillars so that the top parts stays attached to the roof and the bottom part to the main shell then join it back up when the roof is dropped?

If you mean for the roof chop, I was going to do that but higher up so the top cut is flush, or ground flush with the roof line. |

Just thought most chops were done like this as its easier to keep any curves and shaped bits were the pillar joins the roof and window sill.

Oh yeah, but on this chop, or a Morris Minor chop I should say, the roof effectively moves foward, so the A pillars don't need relief cuts to bend them to meet, and the rear window stays how it is. ahh yeah, see what you mean, i was imagining cutting sections across the roof both sides of the B pillars, your way saves trying to weld across the roof skin.

Update. I have got some front shocks on, and just need to put some shims or spacers in where the bolt join the chassis and also prime and paint them. I have been putting some brake clips along the chassis and should have the floor frame welded in during the week, as well as some bracing for the A35 body, so I can cut out the first section of the floor. I am going to swap the front wheels for some Herald wheels and am looking at tyres. I will send some more updates later this week if all goes to plan, mean while, here's some shock pictures.   |

Sorry I haven't posted in a while on here, but I was waiting for the bracing to be welded in so I can start cutting about the floor and such. Now it has been welded in, I can finally start work on the body. Oh, and the floor frame has been welded to the chassis too. The underside of the floor frame hasn't been done yet, so I can't paint it until it is. Sorry, no pictures yet, I will see if I can post some tomorrow.

Photos of the bracing. Nothing too amazing. Next is to cut out the first section of floor. which will be the part from the front to the start of the kickup. I plan to cut out all of the floor eventually, including about half of the arches/tubs. This is because the chassis is wider than the measurements between the insides of the tubs. But with a wider axle than the original Austin one, I can afford that. I plan to do rust repairs on the body (rear wings seems worst struck by rust) once the floor is in, but I haven't even got a a MIG welder yet (thanks Bulldog for the helpful PM on MIGs though), or any sheet metal. But the first thing is to buy some tyres for the project.    |
