coming down the road, doing about 40ish, and the bonnet pops open i was lucky to not hit anything, soiled trousers, etc etc. anyways, this isnt a symapthy thread, there is a more retro err to it! the next bonnet brought is probably going to be a different colour, so itll have to be painted etc etc. i wanna do something retro with it. i was thinkign satin black with a checkered stripe down the side, but this is a bit passay (sp) and wondered what else there is out there (the first person to mention fablon gets a slap ;D ;D ;D) any ideas?

Fablon. Slap away Raise the trailing edge of the bonnet, satin black the 'low' bit in the middle and chequer stripe the sides. Clichéd but cool. *n

monsterous supercharger intake?
Full chequer? Black & white or something crazy?
Ghost chequer with satin paint? Could fade it out from the front...
Union Jack?
Carbon fibre? Got about 2lm of RC303 (300g/m², about 8mm weave) sitting on the chair behind me if youre interested in a bit of diy....

I won't be there when you cross the road, so always use the Green Cross Code.

It's the bare fabric - you'd need to get hold of some resin and ideally a mould unless you plan to just stick a layer on top of the exisitng bonnet - in which case you'd be best getting some of the sticky-backed plastic stuff...
One day, I'll be making bonnets myself... one day (shakes fist)
Just need to learn how to make decent moulds...

Satin black with some small silver checks on the front left hand corner. Raise the trailing edge of the bonnet Seeing people doing this really frustrates me. Hot air will not escape from here as this becomes a high pressure area when the car is driven, simple aerodynamics.

Yep although last time I pointed this out I got "Well they all do it so it must work" in reply So I left them to it ;D Never heard or seen proper cowl induction obviously or wondered why group B rally cars didnt all have it..... and had a great big outlet about 1/3rd of the way up the bonnet Now I wonder why they did that

Dude! Get a capri bonnet, cut out the centre section and graft it in to where the bent bits are. Existing bonnet fixed, and you get a cool power bulge. Bit of a mission, but it'll be worth it and it'll look sweet. Whatever you do will need paint, so why not do something cool before you spray it

I'm thinking, satin black, with a bare metal/rust iron cross in the corner, with a pinstriped white edge
