Just bought a rear roll cage for peanuts so plan to paint it body colour to contrast with the black interior. Given a leather rear seat too which is a real bonus as means my full leather interior came in at a tenth of the original quote! Body shop called and the Alpina front spoiler is all painted and ready to fit so hopefully I'll get over there this side of Christmas. £10 bargain! New rear for freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! A couple of pics from last Ace Cafe event - 11 e21's in one place!

Finally got the leather rear seat fitted today and won some rear headrests for £9.99 plus a fiver postage. I'm going to start prepping the roll-cage for painting tomorrow. What I really want is a pair of 3 or 5 point harnesses but can you get them in orange? If not, they'll have to be black. Might check out the Safety Devices ones unless anyone here has some to sell?

Rear seat in Gauge pod going on top of dash for oil pressure and water temp' With the snow and the prospects of salt on the roads I bought a cover and might lay up the 323 for a while. I'm lucky enough to have another e21 as a winter hack and am hoping to fit a Weber soon and a better steering wheel.

Coilover going on in a week or so along with genuine Motorsport 'ducktail' spoiler. Front spoiler had to come off down to paint mis-match but will be sorted in early January - I hope.

Just been mailed by a company that can supply me with a super-charger and all the required fitting, belts and pulleys. They seem confident in their ability to get my car past my initial goal of 250bhp whilst keeping the car usable. I've always preferred the idea of having less lag too.
So, the question is this. Turbo or Supercharger?

My car finally goes in for some surgery on Monday. Dave at RPM in Essex will be fitting the Gaz coilovers and hopefully adjustable front top mounts if they arrive in time? I can't really drop the ride height any further or else the car just becomes too much of a hassle to drive along the roads near where I live. Once the suspension is sorted the Alpina front and Motorsport rear 'ducktail' spoiler goes on. I'm really looking forward to seeing just how much they change the overall look of the car. Fortunately, it's all easy stuff to remove again if I change my mind.
Next year I hope I'll be able to find some more power but that will also mean changing the standard BMW LSD for one from Quaife. I've got one put by ready though anyway.
Now that just leaves the single wiper conversion and a swap to single headlights.
Oh, and the rear cage...
and the auxiliary gauges... HAPPY NEW YEAR! everyone.

Thanks bigiain - much appreciated.
Hopefully, things will start to progress again on Monday. Although the Spax suspension has done the job I'm really looking forward to swapping to the GAZ set-up. It makes such a difference when the tracking and wheel alignment is all done properly yet so many people change there wheels, shocks and springs but forget to optimise things. I'm just in the middle of writing a feature for Total BMW Magazine and now New Year is over I'm hoping I can finally make enquiries about the supercharger too.

Hi, just wanted to say I saw your E21 in the flesh, driving round Shepherds Bush a couple of days before Christmas. It looked amazing, really stood out. Made me want my old 320 back! Good luck with the mods

Glad you liked it mate. Seems a lot of people are waking up to what a great little car the e21 is. I've been asked by quite a few people to try and find them one while prices are still at an affordable level. Since RWD Ford prices have gone skyward I think people are looking for alternatives. If anyone is considering buying an e21, I'd get in there quick.

Well have dropped the e21 over to Pristine Bodyworks and RPM so should be transformed when it comes back in a weeks time.

Best laid plans and all that....
Snow has put a spanner in the works and can't get my car from the bodyshop to the workshop until it melts a bit. So long as I have it for the Ace next Tuesday I won't mind too much though. At least its out of the snow and ice

Well I'm getting my car back tomorrow now but thought I would clean and prepare my Motorsport ''ducktail'' rear spoiler, prior to fitting it. Rob was good enough to remove it for me and it is usually mounted with 4 bolts that go into captive nuts in the spoiler itself. Unfortunately, over the past 30 years the nuts have rusted really badly and there is evidence of where past owners have used trim-tape to hold the spoiler in place. I guess I could try to remove the old nuts and bond in some new ones but I'm not sure just how strong that would be. I think I'm going to either try using a decent quality trim-tape, making sure both surfaces are spotless, or possibly use a contact adhesive. I know that will make the spoiler a permanent fixture but I had always planned to have 2 bootlids anyway. One with and the other without a rear spoiler. Anyway, it's cleaned up really well and getting rid of all the old bits of tape and adhesive was a real chore. Definately worth the effort though and I'll be fitting the spoiler tomorrow. Genuine part

GAZ Coilovers have totally transformed the cars handling. It's awesome. Alpina front Motorsport rear still to be fitted once rain stops. Sad looking M3.
