I know it can look a little odd from some angles and I don't think the fact it was just balanced on there, for the photo, helped matters. I'm fitting it to a spare bootlid I had painted to, so that I can run my car with or without as the mood takes me. I just like the fact that it's a genuine Motorsport part from BMW and it's obviously pretty rare nowadays. It's just a bit different to the other e21 boot spoilers I have seen.
I'm still waiting to hear about the supercharger although I am pretty sure it's the route I want to take. If not I might look at a progressive rate Nitrous set-up. If a lack of funds means I have to use the Mosselman kit I wouldn't fit it in its current state though! It would have to be done to the same standard as the rest of the car.
The handling and ride has been totally transformed by the Gaz gold coilover set-up. It's still a firm ride but is actually quite supple and doesn't just feel like it's smashing its way through the lumps in the road like the Spax sometimes did. There is a lot more feel through the steering too although I want to fit polybushes on the steering rack. I have also got adjustable front top mounts with rears on their way.
This week I will be mostly fitting the auxiliary gauges and single wiper conversion!
I've also bought a ''Wheel Guard Kit'' from these guys in an effort to protect my alloys. It looks like really good stuff and forms a clear crystalised coat over the alloy to protect it. It takes a bit of time and effort but the results are worth it. www.spautopia.co.uk
Removing the windscreen wiper linkage and motor is a real b*****d of a job. Especially if you have hands like shovels. Anyway, the linkage is being modified and the passenger side spindle removed. I just need to find a suitable grommet to fill the hole that's left. It seems a straightened e30 wiper arm should provide just the right amount of sweep.
Managed to source some single headlights to replace the twin set-up - at last! ;D
single headlamps FTW!!!! sooo much nicer than doubles. although... i do like your different coloured ones, they look unique.
supercharger is definitely a better option than nos. it'll cost more to setup but nos has high ongoing costs and in reality will only ever get used on the dragstrip (its usually illegal on the street anyway in most countries).
Thanks. We are lucky here in the UK that NOS is street legal but I am pretty much convinced that I'll go with supercharging. The guys at Storm Developments are going to get back to me once they have finalised everything.
I must admit, I like the yellow tint lights myself as it's not such a common mod here in the UK. I'm going to fit them on my 316 instead. That's the 316 I was going to leave OE but have just got alloys and lowered springs for.
Managed to source a complete super-charger set up and going to check everything out later this week. It's still currently sat in an e30 and has a dyno proven 240bhp. Just hoping that there is room to squeeze it into an e21 engine bay.
I'll need to upgrade the LSD as the standard BMW ones don't like much over 200bhp. I really hope I can pull this conversion off as I'm loving the idea of all that extra torque. ;D
Thanks mate. KR Motorsport have just called and the linkage to convert to a single wiper is finally finished. I'm going to down to have them fit it on Monday so I just need to get a new wiper arm and blade to maximise the sweep. I know a straightened e30 will work but think I might try the rear tailgate wiper from an e39 as they look a bit more substantial. Anyway, pics to follow.
