Unfortunately, as with pretty much every other mechanical component in this 02, the clutch master cylinder threw in the towel and mapping will have to wait. I've order another from Germany, as the only one in the UK was nigh on £400 with VAT and delivery. I'm just hoping the brake master cylinder isn't next.
I'm really pleased with how the M44 looks despite it still having a black cam cover fitted. The rad needs replacing and a black finish would be nice. I'm losing that tired plastic brake fluid reservoir too.
Just need a stud kit and Mishimoto supplied some nice shiny new nuts...
The clutch and brakes are now sorted but we need to fabricate an idler pulley for the auxiliary belt as ditching the PAS means that even a shorter belt now fouls. Once we get that done though, it'll be time to fire the old girl up!
Edit to add I need to sort those grubby looking headlights out too.
I need to weigh it but stock it was 940kg and had about 83bhp. The M44 engine is a little heavier but the stock seats were considerably heavier than the Cobra now fitted. I'll try and get it on the scales at some point but I think the coilovers have probably saved a few Kg's too. It should be fun anyway and having a 5 speed will make the A30 a little less frenetic. It sounds great too.
Well the final power figure was 177bhp and I'm pretty content with that. Once Spring 2021 rolls around I will hopefully be able to have the head fettled by BDS, up the compression, fit some lumpy cams and hopefully get closer to the 200bhp goal I originally set myself.
The suspension geometry is booked in for tomorrow and hopefully I can get a first drive this weekend, assuming the weather holds?
The only other immediate tasks are the connecting of the new auxiliary gauges and sorting the interior. I've got a pair of period Safety Devices harnesses and a leather bucket seat to go in. I also want to fit a rear cage. . As I will be using the 02 I opted to fit the Cibié up front as the woeful headlights need all the help they can get until I can replace them.
