I'm picking up a Reno 21 tomorrow. Its from a pal I work with who said he was going to scrap it if I didnt have it (how many cars have I bought like that?)
Anyway, its an E reg 2 litre "monaco" saloon. I don't really know anything about renos, although I cant remeber the last time I saw a 21 on the road. This ones meant to be pretty good, needing only rear brakes for MOT, 70k on the clock and in metallic turd brown with brown leather interior. Mega wibblepoo!
Has anyone got any opinions on these French motors, anything to look out for? Are they just baler fodder or are they worthy of preservation?
Any advice muchly appreciated and that.

Brown 21 = ftw.
Can't imagine a 21 being much cop in a DD, and if it ends up annoying you I reckon you could flog the Monaco interior on eBay for what you paid.
*looks forward t'pics*

I really like 21s. I think 2 litre probably goes quite well to! A friend of mine had a 21 a couple of years ago and I remember being impressed about how smoothly it went on the motorway and how easy it'd accelerate even when towing a trailer. Not sure which engine it had.

A frined of mine has just bought a 21 Turbo Quadra. It's a pretty nice car but it needs a bit of de-chavving (diamond cut 18's and the windows are full of stickers epic fail) Oh and he managed to blow the turbo after 200 miles

He's well known as a "car killer" He's blown 2 Mk1 MR2 engines, drove a Mk3 Astra to the scrap yard, blew a BMW 1600 engine, probably some other stuff that i'm not aware of.
In fact i should probably be trying to save the car from him ;D

i say save the 21, as has been already said, te brown and brown combination is quality, proper old grandad spec! We used to have a few in the family years ago. the auto boxes were bad when they came out because of a fault with the atf cooler but nearly all the autos are gone now. the're comfy cars and while not fast have enough power to handle motorways and towing

well, i got it! 2 owners from new, the first up until 2005, full reno history up until 05 and 56k too. 74k on it now. Interior is v good, exterior has the odd dent but generally v good. Rear arches scabby in door shuts. Wont turn over though, dodgy connection? Needs drivers windnw too due to vandals. No pics as my laptop has had cyber aids for the last month and I'm using a phone to log on Omg Pain!,?! Pics to follow.

Good saving skillz!.
They are a nice car with very comfy leather seats, The 21 Monaco must be a rare old thing now, You still see the more popular 5 Monaco's about though.

The rear arches are nice and low, the top of the tyre isnt visible infact. No twin square headlights imafraid though, just a pair of rectangular glasses!
Still no pics... I'm new to this world of Frenchness, I'm guessing I have myelf a "phase 1" Reno 21? I know the later models were a bit more curvy than this one, infact its very lego like in appearance.
Anyone know to a drivers window going spare???
Gotta go, mother in law wants her computer back.....
