The car was originally brought by a couple of mates who intended to turn it into some kind of crazy power drift weapon........... the car ran out of MOT and Tax, and they ran out of money and mojo! The car then sat on there parents drive for the next 6 months until my mate mum, said "I'm calling the breakers to take it away". My mate ran me and said that it was mine for free if I came and got it by monday. I picked it up and then stored it at my private CCTV protected car park (well Halfords car park Torquay!). I put the car in for an MOT to see if it was worth saving, it failed on......... Massively cracked windscreen 2 patches of welding Exhaust just floating about Front washer jets didn't work I swapped over the plugs and pipes on the washers motors and fitted two new exhaust rubbers, great success! I got a new windscreen fitted and got Ian (aka BIAS Autoservices) to apply his awesome skills to the rusty areas! Then today at 1.00 I got the beast retested and it passed ;D then after a painful trip to the post office it was road legal Anyway some pics...... The initial plan is to stiffen and lower the suspension, sort out some rimage and weld the diff. Then ultimatley I would like to get rid of the rust and sort out some more power.......... arrrr........ pipe dreams Thanks to Ian for sorting me out at such sort notice and sacrificing his evening to help me, Hutch for giving me the car and Hayley my better half fo rputting up with my addiction to cars!

A good deal, free is usually a good price. I have only had one car that was free and still overpriced.
Volvo 300s rule just a bit soft on the springs.

Volvo 300s rule just a bit soft on the springs. Yeah way too soft, some stiff lowering springs and doubling up the leaf springs should sort that out thou hey what engine is in this? is it the 1.4 or the 1.7. would love one of these beasties. Is it true you can put a clio engine into it?? It's a 2.0 which is the Volvo engined one, the 340 have Renault engine so fitting a 16v Clio engine is a common conversion. Right small update: the trickle of parts starts. Some Landrover Defender 90 front shock absorbers, which are a direct (or so I'm assured) fit to the rear of the 360 to tighten up the back end.......... And some 2" lowering blocks........ Fingers crossed these will be fitted tomorrow, I'll cut the front springs to get the stance right, until I can get proper spring. Any feed back or comments well come ;D

Great stuff, welcome to the Volvo 3 series club!
The GLT actually had 'stiffer' suspension than the others, so spare a thought for those driving 340s with 'stock' suspension! Escort mk 2 springs will fit on the front, if you can get some at a good price.
You should venture over to volvo300mania if you havn't, and introduce yourself there!

Fitted the Landrover 90 dampers yesterday, was as stated a direct replacement. However I fitted the dampers using the original bushes to start with but ended up using the Landrover ones which came with the dampers. Anyway some pics......... 360 damper vs. 90 damper Old off......... New on....... Dispite the fact the rear spings are still very soft, the extra hardness/stiffness of the landy dampers has made a noticable improvement to the handling. Oh and a photoshop of what I would idealy like to do, well maybe ;D I just love Rota GT3's bloody sexy rims!

Nice one for getting it through the MOT and back on the road where it belongs. Being a ponce i plumped for spax adjustables which are set to their half stiffness but the axle still jumps about under hard accelerating or bumps. Just intersted to see how good the Landy shocks are as a few people on V3M fitted them then we never hear from them again I've got some of dai's (Classicswede on V3M) front springs which really stiffen the front up but even my uprated dampers can't seem to cope, it has a lot of "bounce" but again the Glt has uprated roll bars too so you may be ok.

I haven't tried to do any hard launches or burnout with the new dampers on the back, but the roundabouts on the way home from work the car seemed more composed and the back settles very quickly. I still want to double the leaf spring up thou.
Yeah the next step is to a pair of Dai's front springs, think I'm going to go for the 3" ones.

Fitted the lowering blocks today ;D happy days, well almost! Basically the exhaust sits over the rear beam with about 2" of clearence, which is great until you fit 2" lowering blocks which raises the beam by you guessed it 2". The exhaust just sat on the rear beam plums! So until I can sort something more perminant, I cut the back box off and made an el bodgo side exit ;D Of well some pics.......... STANCE!!!!!!!!! Fingers crossed I'll have time tomorrow lunchtime to chop the front spring

Any pics of what the exhaust looks like now, curious. Great to see it meeting the pavement.
p.s. the current rims, with black inserts and polished faces, with tasty lo-pro's and some suitable spacing would look schaweet. Or so they do in my head, what size are those standard wheels?

Or so they do in my head, what size are those standard wheels? I'll get a pic of the exhaust tomorrow, it's only a temporary thing as it scraps and bangs on everything The wheels are 5.5j 14" and have an offset so high they almost sit in the middle of the car! Would need 20mm spacers to get them to sit anywhere near right So they will go fairly soon ;D

Some pic of the exhaust............... Found a steering wheel boss to fit it as well, brand new in the box £5 obsolete Halfords stock FTW! So I stuck my cheapieo steering wheel on it. Cut the front springs too, but this resulted in a pretty big fail, will post pics tomorrow!
