Hi all!! 1st post on here, so I thought id let you see what ive been building. I'm not sure whether its really ‘retro’ but its is older and a bit different. I bought an old 1990 Nova GTE three years ago, which despite “being stored for six years” was a complete dog. So it turned into bit of a project / resto. Ive always been into Vauxhalls and had had a few newer generation ones; Corsa C, Astra Coupe, Astra Gsi then I got a company car so having a newish car as well didn’t make sense so I sold my Astra and bought this for a few hundred notes. My idea was to have it looking standard-ish on the outside with a sort of ‘90s touring car twist to it. A stripped but ‘finished’ look for the interior, and keeping the 1.6 8v lump with a few period gooies. The spec so far is: Genuine GTE shell Original panels with the exception of new doors (from a K plate) Original glass GTE bodykit New Coil All New Gaskets New Battery New Plugs New Leads New Fuel Pump New Radiator MK2 Astra Vents blended into bonnet Willwood 4 pots and 280mm discs (fr) Braided Lines (fr) Astra GTE disc conversion (rr) Bilstien B10 Dampers and Springs 16” Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2s 195/40/16 Dunlops Sportex 4-Branch Piper Mild Steel System K&N Samco Hoses Polished Tanks 6-Point Cage Front and Rear Strut Braces Carbon Fibre Interior Panelling Cobra Imola2 Seats Schroth Harnesses OMP 330mm Dished Wheel False floor to conceal spare wheel Loads of metal work had been painted, theres lots more small bits that I haven’t listed aswell. Heres some pics: New doors on And one with cage in Engine Bay Some random interior shots Wheels and Brakes And my false floor Plans now are to get it painted, swap the spring out for my custom made extra low ones (for the 90's BTCC look), fit my englemann mirrors, and get some carbs!! Comments and criticisms appreciated! Also, looking for some suggestions for new wheels…..

That is gorgeous. Welcome to Retro-Rides!
I've always had a soft spot for Novas, and the years I spent marshalling on stage rallies have taught me that they are one of the quickest/best handling little hatches around when they are properly sorted.
You'll find plenty here to inspire you wheel-wise...though thanks to the aforementioned rallying interest, I'm trying to resist the considerable temptation to shout 'COMPOMOTIVE MO'....and failing!! ;D

I never use to be a nova fan but looking at yours an loving it they are starting to grow on me. A friend of mine got given one once. It was an old carb model, he was only bout 12 at the time an I was 18 an we used to go t the loacl council industrial estate an give it some abuse. Maybe one day Ill get myself one but yours looks great a well done on all the work you'v done to it.

Looks good to me. Red with the carbon and white cage all goes really well. Wheels look alright to me but if you are going to change them I'd go for something completely different. Banded steels...... Welcome.

That looks really smart, there are plenty of euro novas at the moment it's nice to see one modified in a pro touring way. Very cool!

Great stuff, always look for these, would have orange front indicators on though if it was mine. Nice work on the bonnet.

You've done a grand job there....... I always hankered after a gsi when they came out - mate let me drive one and I fell for it. That thing is cleaner than my kitchen (not much to be said really but you get the picture).
Excellent motor....

Last things that were done were these two areas of repair and painting. The slam panel and the area under the rad were looking sorry for themselves, so while I had the old rad out to replace it, it was an ideal excuse to tidy things up: Before During After Before During After Before After Before After (not a great shot because the new rad is in the way, but it is all nice and clean and shiney under there! and thanks everyone for the positive comments!! more progress pics to follow shortly...
