As per my post in the eBay thread: Cosmic alloys for an Amazon!!! ;D You need to get those bought by the way! I know & I really want them!! Hoping that they don't end up going for silly money. If I do get them, I can't fit them for a while as the rear arches are pretty rusty, & one has started disintegrating (not suprising really as it was stuffed with wag 3 1/2 years ago), so need to sort that out properly before fitting wider wheels. Anyone know what tyre size would I need (they're 15 x 5.5J) to maintain the same rolling radius as the 165/80R15s (that are on the current 4.5 wide steels)?? Also, will I need special wheelnuts, or can I use the existing ones? As these and Mambas are my favourite wheels, if I get these, I'll have to put the Mambas back on the Sprite!!

To quote Rodney Trotter - Cosmic!!!!
I always thought the Volvo 240 GLT alloys would look good on an Amazon

Should be able to use the same tyre,.. you'll have a slightly less bulgy side wall

Was gonna say... keep your existing tyres... right radius and mild amount of euro-style coolness.
Although... 80-profile tyres!? scary!!

Won't even be euro style coolness ... just a slightly more upright tyre, it will still bulge

AlpineAndy, thanks for the links! I've seen Amazon's with 205 wide low profile tyres on wide steels, but that's not going to help grip in the wet.... However 185/70s work out as the correct rolling radius, but they are about £75 each Looks like I'll use the 165s (£50 each :-) ), as the Mambas on my Sprite are also 5.5 wide, and the 155/80R13s fitted fine with just a hint of stretch ;D

Cheers Andy & Dom - there's a huge choice of good quality new tyres in that size, and they're all cheap!!!
I'm a bit concerned that 195s might be too wide, not just for grip in the wet, but also for the wheel arches. However, if I do get the Cosmics, the old steel rims with the 165s will be my winter wheels.
I hope that they don't get bid too high....... I really want these wheels for RCS '06 ;D
