My first car was a 4 door Chevette too! Great car to cut your teeth on. Suspension easy to work on, no struts to bum around with! Great road holding and not enough power to get you into trouble! Good choice (insured mine for £300 back in 1984). Of course, an Imp would have been better though

I won this little Seat Arosa on Ebay for £631 for my daughter a few months back. Low insurance, 60 mpg, power steering and power windows. It's a cracking little car to drive. If your kids out late driving about i would go for something a bit more modern and reliable, IMO.

That chevette is class, great looking car, nevermind a first car. A note on classic insurance, although I know you got a quote, is that a lot of places won't do classic insurance unless you have another daily.

Hi,
I was going to suggest mk2 Swift 3pot 1000cc. They are cheap to run(65mpg in long run). You can buy them cheap. If you ever wants to upgrade, there is a Gti engine G13B with 105Bhp on tap.
Cheers Atchi

Building roof chopped, screen raked '68 Mini with G13B 1.3 16v Gti engine with LSD, Yamaha R1 carbs. As well as mk1 Suzuki Swift Gti AWD with a turbo. Drives PHEV Outlander but wishing my mk1 Swift Gti or mk2 CRX Vt were still with me!
