Cheers guys. It's supposed to be a 2L M20 but it's been converted to a 2.5 M20 complete engine out of a E34 525i. I'm actually really happy with the performance and it's got more than enough go but it's done for. Unfortunately the M535i is a different engine type so it won't fit, thanks though. It will stay in one piece I've decided but it will need a new petrol tank, front E34 brakes and discs and another engine/head. I have another 2.5 around but that will need work but hopefully it's healthier than the one it's got. This whole situation has been a massive kick in the nuts and I've decided to lay off cars a bit and not get so worked up about them. The Tax is out next month and the MOT is out in November and I'm not going to bother doing anything with it until next year. Until then I'm back on E21s .

Any cheap 24v 2.5/2.8s and I might be interested at the right price...
I probably shouldn't say that! Cheers

Thats a fair plan - shame its an M20 engine not the M30 otherwise I would be able to help more. I would like to say that you shouldn't let you interest in the e28 wain but I can hardly sniff at the alternative when its an e21 - gorgeous car (assuming its the one on your signature picture?)

The MOT and Tax are nearly out and I won't want to use it over winter anyway so in the shed it goes. It's nice to have a cool car to pull out as and when I want to fix it and I'm in no rush either. The suspension will have to be stiffened up since I'm managed to bend the subframe ear where the TCA bolts... I stuggle to get 3 fingers under the sump so I'm surprised that it didn't smash at any point! Thanks for the E21 comment, that's my 316 thats in bits . Last on the road around Retro-Rides '07. I took the engine out, fitted a few different ones and now it's on standby until I find something awesome to fit in the engine bay. Here it is with an BMW M50 2.5 24v. The reasons for the 316 being on stand by was because I thought it was a better idea to work on this E21 323i which Bodieandoyle has been welding the hell out of... Watch this space (and next years RRG) ;D
