Hoorah another update Got the Victor ready to go down to SPL last week Could not believe how much surface rust had started to form on the car, even in places where there was no rust at all before, I guess when they say Primer absorbs water, this is what they mean The guys unloading the car at SPL and the collection of panels to be done to and some other candidates waiting their turns All well and good you think, yes so did we, then the guy comes over with his clipboard and takes down the details then asks, do we want it dipped "yes " we say and he ticks the box, do you want it coated he says, "yes" we say " E- coated please" we say. Oh I'm sorry we don't do that any more, we have a new improved Nickel plating coating, very good, lasts 3 times longer than the e -coating, salt resistant up to 3000 hours, and we are so confident that we offer a 3 year anti perforation warranty with it. And look how nice it looks on our sample Mini traveller "Ooooh Lovely" we say Sounds and looks great, whats the down side, No down side he says, but it is a little bit more expensive. Okay, how much is it £2500.00 + Vat he says. I cant print our next reply, but it went along the lines, of Gosh thats a bit more expensive than the previous £845 + Vat that you so kindly quoted earlier, shame you had not thought to mention this to us last month when we rang to book it in, and again yesterday when we rang to confirm what time we would be here. To say that we felt well and truly shafted would have been a total understatement at this stage, a few more pleasantries followed and the guy apologised stating that he did not normally deal with the car side and the guy we needed to speak to would be back in tomorrow. So we decided to leave the car and head back home Following rather lengthy discussion with the MD the following day, Gordon was even informed that the £2500+ vat did not normally include the panels that we had supplied to, this would normally be extra, but due to the inconvenience he would do them for the same price. Very nice of him !! So with the dipping cost included thats the thick end of £4K now to get the car done, begrudgingly Gordon agreed, as we have got this far with it, it would be a shame not to follow it through So if anyone know's a market for a semi healthy lung or Kidney, then please email me

Wow! Not much of a price difference there. Have you checked the legality of what they've done, verbal conteact and all that?

I've heard quite a few none complimentary comments about this outfit, which is a shame. You've got to watch out for curse word that run out of talent on the fork lifts. I do know of cars that have been returned with bent sills etc, so make sure you give it a thorough inspection when you collect.

Yikes. I keep hoping I'll find a fantastic report about this company to balance out the bad ones of their less than professional attitude towards customers, but it hasn't happened yet.
Fingers crossed that the Victor will benefit from all this lavishing of attention.

Looks like a Maserati Ghibli or Shamal in the background. Can't wait to see how the Victor turns out - when's it due back?

Looks like a Maserati Ghibli or Shamal in the background. Can't wait to see how the Victor turns out - when's it due back? I don't think it was anything that exotic, perhaps a Porsche 924 We really have no idea when it is due back, what they also failed to tell us was the the new super duper Nickel plating line was not actually up and running yet, and the reason they had to cut the mini in half was not to show a before and after shot, but because the biggest tank that they had access too can only fit half a mini in. Well at least the Victor will be one of the first cars to have it done, I just hope thats a good thing

I'm surprised they get any work after the forum posts I've seen about them. Regarding primer, i was told "normal" primer is porous but lead oxide ( red lead ) isn't, I've used red lead for ages and you can't burn the stuff off even if you weld next to it Kev

Judginf by the surface rust on the 924 and whatever is behind it, some of those other shells have been waiting a while for their turn. I hope this has a positive outcome for you, after all the hard work you've put into this car to it it to where it is now

Well that was a timely bump Yes some of the cars have been there for years, waiting to be collected, or so they say Gordon rang last night to say that he has been speaking to SPL and they still have no idea when they will have the new Super Duper Plating line in place, he got the impression that it will not even be this year, add to that VAT going up in the New Year and we are left with a dilema He is busy ringing around to see what the alternatives are, so watch this space
