Difficult one, the way that I would judge it is on the grounds of desire.
Did you always desire a Sierra and then get one and it's lived up to your dream - or did you just get one and then find that you really liked it?
IF the Sierra is the car you always wanted and promised yourself then do the work and keep it. If you've just found that you like them since you owned this one then look for another.
You might find that you fall in love with a different car, just like you did with the Sierra.

I bet almost every person on here has spent far more on their car than it is worth, whether it's restoration, upgrades or ICE. Fix it up if you're attached to it. Just think of saving the world from the waste from the manufacture of a new car.

The tyres and petrol probably cost more than that! Mine's going to carry on - thanks to Erikamini's Dad for offering to weld up the sill! Luckily the rust is pretty localised, so adding it all up, it only actually needs about £120 spent, and a couple of saturdays work, so not half as bad as I thought. However I'm not going too mad on the Sierra, as I quite fancy something sportier as well....but that'll have to wait for now!

Impmaniac, I know exactly where you're coming from! It's often a case of "better the devil you know"... Erika, I remember you! (I certainly remember the look on your face as the floor of your Mini fractured when we pulled it out the ditch ) I spoke to your husband earlier about his Talbot (Samba Rallye, anyone?!!!) and sent him to RR!! Small world. Anyway, you have PM! ;D Seems a bit much to get a stranger to weld my car up for nothing though... Did you say Samba rallye, tell me more!! I'll send you a PM

If you like it, KEEP IT! F*** how much AUTOTRADER says its worth, think about how much its worth TO YOU. FAR too much emphasis is put on the value of things these days. How attatched you are to something doesnt even come into the equasion. It might be good advise to crush it and find something else if it was some souless econobox that you didnt care about, but as long as u didnt buy the sierra [or Omega! ;D] as a money making exersise, then youve no reason to have to get rid. Totally agree with you on this, street! Speaking personally, my plan is to keep the 'mega coz it's a pretty serious piece o' kit. It is very fast indeed, sounds great (if a bit quiet... for now! ;D), demolishes long journeys like no other vehicle I've ever been in, handles okay for a big exec. luxomatic barge... And it should tow the Imp without noticing any difference. I actually quite like its looks too! Might look into a few bodywork tweaks in the new year, though... If you like the Sierra, can afford the repairs and YOU FEEL that it's worth the effort, DO IT! Hang onto it. Fly in the face of throwaway society. It's what RR is all about! My £0.02. I'm P.S. The 'mega might be retro one day...? Omega estates rule, v.cool. Saloons pretty cool too. Loadsa road prescense (spl?)

I've just been offered an old Sierra Saphire for free! It's only a crapy 1.8 CVh powered thing wuth big holes in the door cards where 6x9 speakers once sat and I've got to supply my own wheels and although it's solid the paint is scratched etc... but it's got a bit of MOT and Tax on it and so will do till the 'tina is back on the road.
