Nice car, good luck with the project. I had a similar car; 2 door Cavalier with XE, quick rack, low ratio LSD and rear discs. Excellent fun on the track, faster than it should be and worried some very expensive cars! ![](http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn150/john164RS/Cavalier/Sept08037-4.jpg) Brakes were fantastic. Front were Group N Astra (Kadett?) GTE. Fit perfectly with a small spacer. Rear was Ford Sierra/Scorpio discs. Keep up the good work. John

The Cavalier looks really good! From which year was the Astra/Kadett? I might use my Calibra turbo discs in front, or Rekord 2,2 discs that fit without mods.

The Cavalier looks really good! From which year was the Astra/Kadett?. Late 80s (the 1st aero shape, 2nd FWD type). We used the callipers & discs on the Cavalier. The rear discs make a massive difference. Our spare, higher geared axle (for long distance cruising) had drums and the brakes were a lot less sharp when that was fitted. John

I love my Cavalier, but the Ascona looks even more winsome. Top work!

MadMaxx: The window surrounds will be used, the chrome wheelarches I´m not so sure about. If I go with the original arches they will be re-fitted, but I will make som GF-arches and make the decision then... ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I wont throw them away! johnrh: Then that might be something for my rear axle aswell! colonelcustard: thanks alot!

The ascona dieselhood wiil never be in the way, it stands on the garageroof ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) laying against the houseroof so it won´t be destroyed in the winter Saab enginge in a RWD Opel is FUN ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) from a boring 58hp to a funny 185hp, maybe you should have a B204T in this Ascona ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) fits bolt on to the R25 gearbox

Ok you are right! Only English from now on! Not that it does matter for me, but it may be a bit frustrating for many people not to understand whats written...

Kadett 1200: Since I´ve already bought the donorcar, the c20xe seems like the smartest choice. ...and I don´t want any problems with the MOT and don´t want trouble with SFRO either. The c20xe is pretty common in 70´s Opels and the MOT-people have all the papers and stuff they need.
Volvo544special65: As written, only english from now on:)

... did I get the engine out of the car today? NO I DID NOT! Failure! But hopefully during the next week... No promises. The bolts to hold the exhaust were to rusty and I didn´t have the tools for it. Since I wont be using the exhaust ever again I probably should have gone with the anglegrinder. But I was too tired (my daughter doesn´t enjoy late mornings the way I do...). But I did some cleaning up in the front and under the right fender. During the next week I must get 2 mounts for the glassfibre-fenders made aswell, I might go with the old ones if I can get them off the original fenders.
